Suspect the cooler weather is getting me into a state of hibernation so not much news other than a club event and junior Golf coaching.

Rosie Tray Tournament (Sunday 25th April)

This event is held yearly on ANZAC day, open to all 18 hole members. Cherry & Tim Reehal won the trophy in 2018 and 2019 (we won’t mention 2020). We would love to see members supporting this event and give The Reehals a good challenge.

The best combined Mixed Pairs Stableford will walk away with a nice looking trophy and prize. However, the rest of the field can still win prizes for individual Stableford for Men and Ladies. $5 Entry Fee, 12 noon Shot Gun start. Starting sheet will be available in the office from 6th April.

Junior Golf coaching (29th April)

School holidays junior golf coaching. Hayden makes it fun for the kids to learn to play golf. Please contact Hayden if your kids or grandkids are interested to try this out. You can check out more details on Omokoroa Golf club website (www.omokoroagolf.co.nz)

Annan Law Saturday Men’s Club Day

The usual Haggle will be played with qualifying for the A-One Kitchens and Interiors Shootout included.

Interclub Pennants

Our Championship Team play on Sunday against Te Puke at the Ohope Golf Club and the Intermediates play at Tauranga against the Fairview Team. Good golfing guys!

The Masters

It starts on Friday morning NZ time and my pick this year is Eric Van Rooyen from South Africa.

Coring working Bees

With so many regular workers away playing golf in Queenstown we need more helpers next Monday and Tuesday to help with coring. Please see Hugh Moleta about what you could do to help. A little work from lots will get the job done.

Foreshore Report
Fintan Downes

This morning I have been advised by consultants that Council have approved funding to proceed with the installation of an additional post and rail all along the Stage 1 part. For H&S reasons the path will be closed during this work

In addition Council have approved funding for the Boardwalk that runs from the 7th green to the 8th tee however the Regional Council have advised that we will need a revision to the Resource consent, The consultants have been instructed to move forward with this and it is expected to take 2 to 3 months.

The greens will be getting cored next week. It would be great to have some volunteer help to push and pick up cores from 10am Monday the 12th of April to help speed the process up so we can get the course back open for play as soon as possible.

Office News

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter.  I hear the Friday Haggle was a big success.

Special request - Please do not take carts on the new foreshore bund walkway. The only part of the walkway that is shared is the crossover bridge between the 17th and 18th holes and we would like to have all our members give-way to public crossing first. The rest of that new path is a designated public walkway and not a cart path.

Membership and subscription queries are best given directly to myself or emailed to manager@omokoroagolf.co.nz as I will be the one to help with those.

If you have a tournament running this year and have not yet submitted a booking sheet to the office please come and see me or email me and I will give you a form to fill out so I can set up the tee-booking sheets for that day.

New Printers are in and working. Thank goodness

Volunteers needed still for cleaning carts on our weekly roster.

“David Niethe is one of New Zealand’s leading mental performance coaches. He works with clients from all backgrounds of life. From corporates to sports stars and everyday people wanting to be a happier version of themselves. I have been working with David for almost three years now and I believe his influence is the main driver behind the huge jump In success I had internationally right before COVID, and then in NZ since.

David is speaking on April the 13th at the Omokoroa Fire Station at 7:30pm. All proceeds are going to the Omokoroa Volunteer Fire Brigade. Thanks to VPT and Omokoroa Freshchoice for the support.

This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the leaders in his field. See flyer attached for more details.”
