Committee Update

  • Minutes of each committee meeting are posted in both the Men’s and Ladies locker room as soon as possible after they have been confirmed as a true and correct record of the meeting.  Feel free to read them and ask questions of  Committee members.
  • A committee subgroup comprising Steve Weatherley, Ian Graham and John Aldridge are conducting a complete review of prize allocation for Vet’s events and Wednesday Haggles.  If you have a view, talk to one of the guys.
  • The committee is working positively with the Club’s Manager in an effort to secure a sponsor for Wednesday Vet’s.  Detail should emerge over the next couple of weeks and will be along similar lines to the Craigs Tuesday Ladies partnership.
  • Sunvue (Lee and John Weatherley) have again agreed to sponsor our premier annual event, our Strokeplay Championships.  A special thanks to those guys for their ongoing support.
  • The Committee has advised the Club Manager that we will return to 10.00am starts from 10 April 2024.
  • The Committee has initiated discussion with the Club Captain and the Captains Group on the need for Twilight to return to Thursdays for the 2024/25 season.  You will recall that Twilight was arbitrarily changed to Wednesday a few years back without any discussion with the then Vet’s Committee.
  • Ian Jory has agreed to be the delegate for BOP Vets

Wednesday Numbers

Following a meeting of the Committee yesterday afternoon some of us were engaged with others  in an interesting discussion on the number of players turning out each Wednesday.  We agreed the numbers were down somewhat and there was a healthy debate on why.  However, some ‘scientific analysis on my part today suggests that over the last 4-5 weeks around 80 of our regular members have turned out more than once.  Are the  for lower weekly numbers internal or external?  We are keen to know your views.
