Our Golf Club is built on a foundation of Rules and Respect. In my short tenure I have observed that there are areas of these that could be better observed by us all so here is a gentle reminder on what we can all do.
The Rules of Golf apply to us all and are written to assist everybody that plays the game and we all do our best to observe these when we are out on the course.
The second set of Rules are provided by the Club, the Board and its various committees to help the smooth running of the club and the course itself.
When you are on the course and the sign says “Replace your Divots”, please do so or use the sand provided to fill the damage left behind. If the sign says “Repair your Pitch Marks” do so. This saves an enormous amount of the green staff’s time rectifying these issues. The same goes for the cart signs if they are directing you to the paths or away from the green, you MUST observe this. This is for the benefit of all members to ensure we continue to have great greens, tees and surrounds.
If you have played a bunker shot, rake the bunker to a standard that you could play a shot from. Don’t just walk away. With the volume of players we have on the course this summer, slow play has been frustrating at times. Please ensure your four plays ready golf, if you have completed play, clear the green for the group behind. If you are the group behind, please wait until the players are clear ahead before taking your shot. Do not hit up on the players in front. There have been too many close calls to date.
There are various barriers and post and chain fences around the course. We have a beautiful yet fragile environment in which we play. These are there to ensure this is ongoing. Please don’t lift them out of the way and push your trundler or drive your golf cart through them. Don’t lift your trundler over them and just keep walking. Take the long way around. Save the fragile areas of the course for golf only.
We have a wonderful facility here, the envy of many, please respect it.
The second unspoken rule of the Club is respect. This is for all club members, hardworking green staff and admin, bar staff and caterers. That means that if you have finished with your glasses and plates place them in the appropriate place when you have finished, don’t leave them for somebody else to clear away.
If you rearrange the tables and chairs, put them back the way you found them. If your player’s group have spent days organizing an event for you or a twilight evening, please give them the respect of being quiet while they conduct prizegiving. Whilst you may not have won a prize somebody else has. Show them and the organisers some respect.
There is a rule in place preventing alcohol on the course. This is because the Club’s Liquor Licence extends only to the Clubhouse, not the entire course. The fines for breaking this Licencing Law are very harsh and I am sure we do not want this added expense to our Balance sheet. Please observe this.
We have a fantastic course at a beautiful location, if we follow the rules and all show a little respect for everyone involved in the Club it will run all the better for it.

A reminder to those that have not yet purchased their tickets that there is only one day left.
This should be a great night. It is a whole new show, props etc and after this event they are off for a tour at Clubs around Australia.
