Manager's Message
Marcus Niles

Happy New Year!!  I managed to get a week off to spend at the lake/beach to enjoy this wonderful weather we have been having!  It was cool to come back and see the course in such great condition leading into our two big events for the year.

Omokoroa Open/5 Course Classic
This weekend we have our Open, which is immediately followed by the 5 Course Classic.  The greens staff and volunteers have been very busy presenting our course for the influx of visitors, and its looking awesome!
During these events the Practice Fairway will be closed while golfers are on the course.

Course Master Plan
Further to the Board News a few weeks ago…
Following a recommendation from the Course Advisory Group, the Board has commissioned Phil Tataurangi to assist us with the preparation of a Course Masterplan.  This initiative is also part of the club’s Strategic Plan.  The plan will help guide future works on the course, and ensure any current works are coordinated and considered.  We stress that there is no intention of undertaking a major re-development of the course, but rather we will look at options for specific tweaks that will enhance our course and improve the golfing experience for both members and visitors.  It is intended that Phil Tataurangi will present the proposal to the membership at the June AGM.

Happy New Year to all our Club Members and families.

A very busy holiday period for the club with a large number of visitors over the holiday period to date.

The feedback on the course and facilities has been very good with many very surprised at our little jewel here at Omokoroa.

The New Years Eve Tournament had a field of 104 and visitors and the Foursomes with a Twist was very well received.  A big thanks to Fresh Choice for their sponsorship and also the wonderful gift baskets they put together for the prize table.  It really was a great sight.  Forty baskets plus wine and biscuit assortments were distributed.

Twilight
By Pink Leow

Another lovely warm and sunny evening enjoyed by a very full field of 120 players. The competition format this week was combined Stableford “Power Play”, with each player selecting 3 holes where they doubled their score for that hole. Scoring was very good indeed with Jen Carter and Nicole Bridson, scoring a whopping 63 points - Nicole having her “best round ever”. Jen and Nicole only just won on a count back from Dee and Peter McCrea with Peter Cooke and Jacqui Pittendreigh 2 points further back. Not much change at the top of the season long leader board which can be found here. 8 more weeks to go to get in some good scores.

It was great to have many of our wonderful sponsors playing in the field. Ben Taylor from Bethlehem Butchery, Denise Langdon and Kim Buckley from PaR nz Golfing Holidays, Mike and Joann Deane from Mike Deane Motors and Nathan Lewis and Matt Groucott from One Staff Recruitment. We were only missing someone from The Clubroom.

Brittany and Ana were busy (and hot) in the kitchen and Eric Bucher was the lucky winner of the complementary dinner.
