9 Hole Ladies
Astrid Martin

While most of us struggled with the windy conditions today, there were a few who relished them and had great scores!

Round 3 summer cup - stableford

3rd = Dianne Mahony & Lyn Harrison    20 points

Excellent effort ladies, congratulations!

We said thank you to our recent convenor, Lyn Harrison today, and presented her with a beautiful orchid plant and a voucher. You have been an amazing leader for your 9 hole group Lyn, and now you can look forward to seeing your H/C come down..... especially after todays round!

This quote is for you Lyn

"As you grow older, you realise there is a role for everyone you meet in life.  Some will test you, some will use you, some will love you and some will teach you.  But the ones who are truly important, are the ones who bring out the best in you.  They are the rare, and amazing people!"

Happy golfing everyone.

Twilight
Pink Leow

A blustery evening did not detract from some very good scoring. This week the format was Best Ball Nett and the winners on the day were Lynda Smith and Jean Marc Colmar who combined very well indeed to score a very impressive Nett 29. They only just won on a count back from Brian Taylor and Peter Robertshaw. In third place were Sharon Dobson and Pixie Lochhead  with a Nett 31 who also won on count back from Dee and Peter McCrea. The competition was very close with no fewer than 13 teams all returning a Nett score of 33.

Lynda Smith and Jean-Marc Colomar have jumped up the season long leader board.

Wendy Harris is the lucky winner for the complimentary dinner courtesy of Brittany and Ana.

With the generosity of the sponsors (PaR n.z. Golfing Holidays and Mike Deane Motors), we were able to give out additional prizes. Many thanks again to our wonderful sponsors - Bethlehem Butchery, One Staff Recruitment, Mike Deane Motors and PaR n.z. Golfing Holidays and The Clubroom.

Twilight golf now takes a three weeks break over the festive season and will resume on January 10th. Many thanks to all the players who has supported the Twilight series and Jonathan and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Captains ‘Grumbles’

Thanks to all those members who played on Wednesday in the Christmas Hamper.  The feedback that I and other committee members have received from the majority, has been hugely positive.  However, the quote of Poet John Lydgate and adapted by President Lincoln… “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time”….. is very apt.

And just one other grumble … but of reasonable significance and it relates to signing of cards.  My time of being the nice guy on this matter is over.  You will be DQ’d from the competition of the day from hereon in.
