On November 5th, we have our ‘Mixed Foursomes’ for all our club members. This enjoyable day is run by the Eagles and is a great benefit for our Juniors.

Unfortunately, it was cancelled last year due to the weather.  Look forward to your support.

Captains Corner
Daryl Muir

Great to enjoy this stretch of good golfing weather.  The course is coming along beautifully.  With the Tee Coring underway please ensure that you place sand in the divot marks on the temporary tees, it makes them more playable for everyone.

Whilst on the matter of sand, with the bunkers drying out and the sand fluffing up, please ensure that you rake the bunkers after you have played your shot, again this makes it easier for the golfers behind you.

Have a great long weekend.

Thursday 19 October

The main event on a busy programme had to be the Shootout over the back nine for the ten top qualifiers. Right from the first hole it was a closely contested game requiring a number of tied scores to be determined by additional putting.

Brett Dixon was the winner of the Trophy, Spencer Tankard runner-up. Denis Douglas and Bruce Blair just failed to be there at the end.

The balance of our members were joined by a visiting group from Outemoetai in a stableford game over the front nine.

Winning scores from Omokoroa were:-
Tom Martin              22 points
Colin Griffiths          21
Allan Winter            20

The top score of the day went to visitor Julius Beck with 23 points.

Next week 30th October.
Mixed Ambrose for the 26 members who will be joining the ladies in day with raffles and prizes galore. Assemble at 8.30am to hear the buzz.

Outgoing Committee Members:

Hayden Nganeko
Although Hayden has been with us a short time, his contribution of ideas and technical information has been invaluable. Thank you for your time and effort.

Tony Alport
Tony’s years on the committee have probably gone unseen. At the end of play, Tony inputs all the data for your results on Saturdays. Tony has given his all for the club and we thank him for his unselfish efforts over the years.

Steve Davis
Steve’s work ethic is going to be sorely missed on the committee. His many years of working on the program and shootout has been invaluable, MR FIXER.

My personal thanks to you all and all that you do for the club. Your presence will be missed. May you all enjoy your golf in peace.

Nominations are now posted. We are seeking good clubmen for the vacant committee members.

Also, the Men’s Captain position is available.

Happy Golfing

There are some fabulous rounds of golf being played by many of the ladies at the moment, as can be seen by the great net scores.

Melbourne Cup Tournament

The Ladies Committee would like to invite you all to play in this annual, fun event!

It is all happening on Tuesday 7th November, with a midday shotgun start. The 18 Hole Ladies are once again running it, with help from the office staff. Entries this year will be online, and you will book in with who you want to play with. $10 entry fee to be paid to the office. There will be an individual stable ford competition, for both men and women, and of course the tote will be running for bets on the big race, which will be televised after golf. Bring cash for that and the raffles!

Dress up, because there are prizes for that, and arrive early for a glass of bubbles, nibbles and to put your bets on. And stay late!  Brittany will be taking orders for a buffet dinner, $25 each, which you will need to confirm with the office by Friday 3rd of November.
