Anya Update
First of all, a huge thank you to all those who have been supporting in any way, whether that’s hitting buckets or throwing balls over from the 18th fairway, we really appreciate it! It's great to see so many balls being hit over the past few months and hopefully all the practice is paying off! I’ve been playing a lot more tournaments this year, most recently, The Ruth Middleton, Waikato Age Groups, Tieke Winter Strokeplay, The Cambridge Classic, BOP Strokeplay, The Mount Open (Charles Tour Event) and The Carrus (Charles Tour Event) which I am competing in next week. These competitions have all been funded by your support at the driving range, which has been a massive help to me! Thanks again for all your support and please remember to hit from the designated area, use the sand available to fill divots and enjoy yourselves!

Volle Promo
Don’t forget we have the Volle balls in stock now.  Every sleeve you buy gets you a chance to win a brand new pair of shoes.  The balls are getting good reviews from members, so give them a try!

9 Hole Ladies
Astrid Martin

The weather gods were kind to us today as we hosted a field of 80+ people for our annual 9  hole tournament. A lot of organisation, and plenty of helping hands meant the day went off without a hitch. The clubhouse was full of smiles and laughter post play and we received some wonderful thanks and feedback. Special thanks to our neighbours Fairview, who had 26 ladies participate today. Very special.

Results

Jeanette Williamson cup for the Omokoroa 9 hole lady overall stableford winner went to Daisy Harrison with 23 points!! Congratulations Daisy, she also won the division 2 nett, with a score of 31.

Our other winner was Robyn King who was Division 1 Stableford winner with 21 points and  the Div 1 longest drive winner. Another stellar round of golf Robyn, well done.

We got special thanks for our "Garden gnome" aka Alan Hoskins, who sat patiently on the bench beside the drop zone on the 8th hole with his red flag which either sailed high for a successful drive or went horizontal for failure, thanks for your time and effort today Alan, both you and Yvonne's efforts are much appreciated.

Huge praise for Brittany and co for the lunch served today, you are a star young lady!!

And to conclude, today was a perfect example of this quote "Focus on the journey, not the destination", as we all enjoyed each others company, irrespective of our golf scores!

Happy golfing everyone.

RESULTS –Wednesday

Western Tray Matchplay
First round for both men and women were played. Recent weather did have an effect on course conditions but most results went as expected and some close games involved. Too early to make predictions but  reigning title holder James Alexander made a good start in the Men’s field  in his attempt to retain his title. Not even his cart breaking down or taking a fall from the cart he hitched a ride in dented his concentration.

Next round is attached.

Same day Stableford

Division 1
Dale Chadwick                 39 points  (countback from)
Michael Dow                    39      “

Well done Dale. A pretty new member and welcome to the winner’s circle. Obviously finding the course conditions suitable at this stage

Division 2
Steve Lyons                      39 points
Bruce Lewer                     37    “

Coming Events

Quads – Monday 2nd

Full team has been entered and separate update being sent to those taking part concerning tee times etc. Good luck guys for the final event of this year’s Quads calendar

Three 3 Mixed Tournament – 15 17 Nov

We are requiring two Women players to make up entries. Please contact Captain Steve for further details if you would like to play.

Reminder AGM

Wednesday 11 October – after normal Club play.

Nomination forms and Remit forms are attached to Notice Board by Starters Office. These have already attracted applications but certainly time to record your interest.

At this stage we are still looking for a Secretary/Admin Support person – as we have done all year. If you are interested in this role please let any of the current committee members know. We have diminished this role by separating some of the functions within the committee but happy to look at all options. Be great to get your support for the coming season.

Cartoon Corner – and definitely NOT the revamped 5th Colin.
