Manager's Message
Marcus Niles

AGM

The 2023 club AGM was held last night with 57 in attendance.  The meeting went well with some good discussion, and everyone I spoke with felt it was a positive meeting.  Some saying it was the best we have had in years, which is fantastic to see.  It shows we are developing a good spirit in the club and endorses the awesome work put in by our volunteer Board.  A personal thanks to retiring Board member Rob Mitford-Burgess who has been very supportive of me as I settle into the club and my role, and has contributed quietly and significantly behind the scenes.

We welcome Sue Dark onto the Board in the only change from the current make-up.  Great to have some continuity in our leadership group, coupled with a fresh voice.

We were treated to a slide-show of all the amazing work that has been completed over the past 18 months.  Pretty impressive work from our volunteers and staff.

Our much-loved President Swampy Marsh was honoured with a well-deserved life membership.  Fellow life member Ken Joyce spoke warmly about Swampy and his acceptance drew the largest applause of the night.

Confirmed last night were:
President:
John ‘Swampy’ Marsh
Board:
Ken Shirley
Lynda Smith
Max Greer
Ben van den Borst
Keith Roberts
Sue Dark

Our Club Captain role remains vacant.  If anyone has interest in taking up this job you will be given plenty of support, and you will find it rewarding.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

Gardens
Lynda Smith

As you will be aware the gardens on the entrance to the 1st tee, 4th fairway and 5th tee have been maintained by Roger and Beryl Brown for many many years.  They have ‘done their dash’ and have handed over the reins to the next group of keen green fingers.  We thank them whole heartedly for their energy and time in keeping these areas beautiful.  I also thank Shirley Richardson, Roger Pace and the 9 hole ladies for their ongoing commitment to the car park garden, 4th and 6th Tee gardens.

I am keen to find many hands to ‘make light work’ of our gardens.  Nathan’s greenkeeping team are happy to do the heavy pruning, removal of rubbish and spraying.  Our Gardening team would be undertaking light pruning and weeding only and then enjoy a cuppa afterwards.

If you enjoy being in the garden and are happy to provide 2-3 hours once or twice a month on a Monday or Thursday please leave your name with the office staff or email me at lyndylou57@xtra.co.nz.

Let’s make keeping our club’s gardens beautiful, an enjoyable activity.
