Course Surveying
Surveying Services have been on the course the past week GPS mapping our drainage and irrigation systems so we have a good record on file for future.  Big thanks to KD for assisting the process with his wealth of knowledge.  Surveying Services have been very generous with thier time, so if you need surveying done, please consider them.  surveyingservices.co.nz

Cart Cleaning
We have a couple of keen young lads who are helping clean our club carts for a bit of pocket money.  They have an offer to members to clean their carts as well.  See the below flyer... there is a booking sheet in the office.

Pink Ribbon Breakfast
We are hosting a breakfast for a very worthy charity, which includes some pretty amazing speakers and the option for 9 holes of golf.  See attached a flyer for more details.

Mirimar GC Survey

The Miramar Golf Club, located beside the Wellington Airport, is looking at the possibility of redeveloping the clubhouse and golf course.

There are many exciting new facilities that they are investigating, and would like to survey golf players and golf enthusiasts throughout New Zealand to see if they would use these possible new facilities if they were to find themselves in Wellington at any stage in the future.

Your participation in the survey is greatly appreciated.

President's Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

To all members… Please be patient, we have a number of projects on the go at the moment.  These projects are for your benefit.  The drains will hopefully fix a number of wet areas on the course.  Well done to Colin Gee and his team.

The 13th fairway couch is starting to take over but with the terrible weather and coring, the team has been unable to apply the sprays.

Well done to Debbie Clark for her Hole in One this week!

A special mention to KD, one of our life members.  What a really nice person, dedicated to our club – Legend – Worker!

Enjoy your golf everyone – it’s a game!

9 Hole Ladies
Astrid Martin

It has been a busy two weeks, with our interclub team playing in Ohope last week and notching up a well-earned 2nd place.

The final game of the pennants was played on Monday at Omanu, and whilst our overall placing was 7th, there were some stellar individual performances on the day.  Thanks to the ladies who volunteered their time and energy for pennants events.

This week, due to coring, the ladies played irons only, off the red tees.  It turned out to be a ‘double-edged sword’ for some, as even when the ball finally got on the green, the challenge then became getting it in the hole!  But some people thrived!!  Congrats to:

1st       Rohanne Hancock             21
2nd      Robyn King                        18
           Daisy Harrison
           Mary Jane Leuch
           Robyn Lambourne

Hole in 1 by Debbie Clark on the 4th hole on Tuesday 4th April
My first hole in 1, and what a thrill, especially considering neither myself or the ladies I was playing with saw it go in!  Thank you to Julie Howard for seeing it.

Association Pennants
The third round of net play was held at the Omanu Golf Course last Monday. Our team of Wendy Harris 73, Pink Leow 78, Lynda Smith 74, Cherry Reehal 72, Jenny Shirley 73, and Christine Millward 72, are still in 6th position.

Nancy McCormack Foursomes Tuesday 11th April
Entries for this event close after the haggle on Saturday. The draw will be done on Sunday, and the cards printed off on Tuesday morning. Ladies playing in the Nancy McCormack DO NOT need to book in online. Play will start at 8am, and those playing 36 will come in for lunch and collect their 2nd round cards, and start their 2nd round between 12 and 1pm.
Those ladies not playing in the Nancy McCormack can book online, and play in the haggle, probably off tees 1 and 10

RESULTS
Better scoring Wednesday to match the day and despite newly cored greens and minor course alteration. Finishing in front of the Club House - now there’s a thought. But Colin Gee quickly dispelled that idea by saying “that worm’s been buried ages ago”. Oh well.

Anyway scores

BOP VETS                                          Monday 17th April  @ Rotorua
Also repeating recent email issued by Al Thomson in the event anyone missed the original. Urgent response necessary( but based on Al’s request that may be almost too late anyway).  This year’s challenge is being held at the Putaturu Golf Club on Monday 29th May.
Waikato  have indicated that they can handle a field of around 120 +. The BOP allocation is approx. 60 to 65.
If you are interested please click here to email us in the next 24 hours, do not email us if you are not interested.  This does not mean you are entering just gauging interest so that they can allocate slots for each club, entry form will come later.

OFF THE COURSE ACTIVITES
Three of our Vet’s stars recently entered the Omokoroa Boat Club Fishing Tournament and met with some success. Well done John Aldridge, Tim Reehal and Steve Weatherly. I’m not sure why but I had this vision and based on that well known English poem about “Three Men in a Tub” etc etc.

Leave someone else to work out the “Butcher, the Baker and Candlestick maker” but it’s worth looking up the origin of this verse to learn the actual meaning.
