Manager's Message
Marcus Niles

4th Hole
Colin and his army of volunteers have been clearing some space next to the 4th hole.  This is in preparation for us to store some topsoil that we can use around the course in future.

Driving Range
Thanks very much to everyone who is generously offering to donate balls.  We are now flush with balls, so no need to offer any more.
Also - the range balls have been spray-painted to clearly identify which ones are ours.  You are still welcome to hit your own balls out on the range, but please do pick them up.

The first round of Pennants was completed on Sunday.

Our Seniors lost to Omanu 1.5-4.5 with Brian Pirani winning and Ben Van de Borst halving his match. Special mention to Denne Stewart who was pipped on the last hole by prominent BOP Rep, Hayden White.

The Intermediate Team lost to Otumoetai 1-5, with Brent Dingle having our only win. The matches were all close with a few putts making the difference.

The Junior Team had a good win over Fairview 3.5-2.5. David Woods, Richard Hall and Mick Charlton won their matches and Vince Stanaway halved his battle to ensure victory.

Pennants Shirts
We have had another set of shirts donated by Zoe Baguley-Skayman, that will be available to our Pennants teams. On behalf of the Ladies Committee, I would like to acknowledge and thank Zoe for her donation.

Rule Clarification
The area immediately surrounding the Poplar tree on the 10th fairway is NOT mown fairway and is classed as rough. You may not take placement unless the ruling is placement THROUGH the green. It has been left to grow longer and extends approximately 1 metre from the base of the tree.

Training Day for Starters
This was not held last Tuesday, due to bad weather. The Ladies Committee will reschedule it to a later date.

BOP VETS
The following report from Al Thomson

The next BoP Vets is at The Teko on Feb 13th, unfortunately this conflicts with our Vets 3 dayer at Omokoroa so look forward to the next round on the 27th February here at Omokoroa. We had 11 staunch souls at Tauranga last Monday, a sunny calm day which was reflected in our scoring, very laid back. Very few meat packs made it off the table in our direction. Well done Keith Roberts the best of ours and our pennants team of 3 also didn't feature. Say no more.

QUADS COMPETITION
The first round is scheduled for March 6th. Our delegate Ian Howells has been in contact with the other Club’s delegates to confirm this year’s schedule and other matters relating to the competition but is still awaiting a response. Confirmation will be advised when this has been clarified.

PURCHASE NEW BALL WASHERS
The Vets Committee has approved the purchase from funds held of two replacement ball washers – 15th and 17th Tee Blocks. Exiting washers are past repairing. Approx cost is $750.

CLUB  WORKING BEE
Another good turnout of our vet members to assist Colin Gee in tidying up access area around the roadside by the 4th.No serious mishaps but hope your back comes right soon Swampy.

Twilight Update
Pink Leow

Remarkably another fine Wednesday evening with a big field of 104 players enjoying the warm sunshine. The field included 2 players from England and 2 players from Canada - and they seemed to enjoy the fun.

The format for the evening was combined Stableford with “5 clubs only” - which was no handicap at all to some players with both Richard Apanui and Steve Rumney shooting 40 off the stick.  Who needs 14 clubs?? Winners on the night were Howard North and Peter McCrea with a very respectable 41 points and they received the 2 x $30 petrol vouchers courtesy of Mike Deane Motors.  They were closely followed by Tim Trickett and Des Southall on 39 points. The season long leaderboard can be found here.

Nearest to Pin winners were Wendy Harris, Rose Thompson, Patrick Hawkins and Paul Shaw - who all received a sleeve of Pro V1 golf balls, courtesy of PaR n.z. Golfing Holidays.

Lovely to see the club rooms full to overflowing - rather like some of the drinks glasses.
