Manager's Message
Marcus Niles

13th Fairway
You may have noticed some browning off on the 13th fairway.  The lads have sprayed in preparation for re-sowing the fairway with couch grass.  That will happen in the next couple of weeks, which means the hole will be a par 3 for about 6 weeks or so while the fairway recovers.

Kieran's Travels
Our resident professional player Kieran Muir is off on a golf trek in the next couple of weeks.  Frist up is the Australian PGA Championship from November 24-27 at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane. Then on December 1-4 he competes in the Australian Open at Victoria Golf Club/Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne.  We wish Kieran all the best and I’m sure you will all be watching his progress.

Range Balls Update - From Anya Apanui
Just a quick update on the driving range and how it’s been going...
First of all, a huge thank you to all those who have been supporting the driving range, buying buckets and hitting balls. You’ve helped me out so much already and hopefully your game is improving at the same time.  Over the past two months, I’ve been selected and played for the BOP Women's Team in Te Awamutu and the BOP Junior Girls Team in Rotorua.  Both of these tournaments were a great experience and I will be working hard to be a part of them again in the future.  My portion of the funds raised have helped me to buy a new trundler and contributed to entry fees of events like the BOP age groups which I will be playing in on Sunday at Lakeview.  I thank you all again for your support and please remember to hit from the designated area, use the sand available to fill divots and enjoy yourselves!

Greenkeepers Revenge
Last call for entries! It should be a cool day, so get your partner and enter in the office. I am also after a few helpers on the day - I need a couple of starters, and folks to help with results. If you are available on Thursday, give me a yell.

9 Hole Men
Spencer Tankard

A good dozen of us showed up at the Fairview Course for a round of Stableford.
Our Away Game was necessitated by our Omokoroa Course being taken up with the Annual Vets 3 Day Tournament.
The weather defied the forecast and despite a brief shower the golfing conditions were good.

There was no Raffle but we did have a Haggle.

The performances across the group ranged widely from spectacular to disappointing. It was still a good day!

The Haggle money for the top three Stableford scores went to:
Trevor Smith                      24
Fred Hartley                       21
Ernest Taylor                      20

The rest of us languished way behind!
Congratulations to the winners, especially Trevor Smith who carded a Gross 40!

Annan Law Saturday Men's Club Day
The qualifying for next Shootout started with the round last Saturday. The format is the same as last year, with your best 5 Stableford Saturday scores counting. Everyone who plays in the Haggle gets entry into the A-One Kitchens and Interiors Shootout Event.

As we are getting bigger numbers playing on Saturdays, we ask you to please book online for your Tee Times. The Office would like to allow slots after 12.17 tee times to be free for green fee players, if NOT taken by Thursday.   This means visitors could play at the tail of the field and even join in the Haggle, without getting in the way of members. The number of Ladies is also increasing, so there maybe a bit of trial and error as Manager Marcus accommodates everyone.

BOP Champion of Champions
Our representatives in the four divisions performed reasonably well in the Competition held at the Fairview Club last Sunday. George Griffin finished 3rd in the Presidents Grade, James Graham was 4th in the Juniors, Wayne Smith was 6th in the Intermediates and Richy Apanui was 6th in the Seniors.

Mens Committee Meeting
We convene before play on Saturday, so please speak to a committee member if you have any issues.

Shootout – Take 2
Ladies Winner  -  Was of course Maryann McGarva.
(Jan who I credited as the winner last week was in fact the winner of Tuesday Ladies Shootout – both worthy winners all the same)

Apologies to Maryann for late recognition.

Omokoroa Country Estate Vets 3 Day Tournament
Great to see the resumption of this event after Covid played havoc with these events in recent times.

We are in the middle of the tournament as this note issues – so a full summary of results next week.  A special welcome to our visitors and good luck to all those taking part.

The first 2 days has seen some excellent golf and tight finishes across all divisions.  Consistency and often something special will be necessary to come out on top.

But a big heads up for the organisers – Steve and his support crew. The level of planning and detail to host such an event is quite intensive; as no doubt those previously involved can testify.

Reminder Dates
Dec 7th     Christmas Hamper
Dec 12th    Quads at Omokoroa
Dec 23rd    Cross Country
And  Feb     3 Day Pairs Event  ( M & W)

Twilight Update
Pink Leow

Another very full field of 100 golfers played a multiple tee competition. The men teed off the Blue, White and Yellow tees, while the ladies teed off the White, Yellow and Red tees. The scoring was very good indeed with Cliff and Robyn King achieving a winning combined stableford score of 46 points. They took home the 2 x $30 petrol vouchers courtesy of Mike Deane Motors. The next 15 teams (30 players) were winners of great looking meat packs from Bethlehem Butchery. For those who had not won anything at all there were 4 lucky draw prizes provided by PaR NZ Golfing Holidays.

Again the club rooms were full to overflowing and Brittany and Anna were kept very busy in the kitchen serving up a very tasty Lasagne with green goddess salad and garlic bread. The winner of the free meal courtesy of Brittany was Martina Kier.

We are now into the 2nd week of the Twilight season and the season long leaderboard is now updated and can be found here
