She Loves Golf
We have just completed another very successful 'She Loves Golf' program for beginner ladies.  Several of them have engaged with the club to purchase either memberships or a concession card.  Please remember - these ladies are new to the club and are learning all about golf and what to do on the course.  PLEASE be patient with them on the course, and make them feel welcome in the clubhouse.  It is awesome to see them to here and they have added a real buzz to the club.  Special thanks to Hayden Beard, Hayden Nganeko and the crew from The Clubroom for running the program for us.

Pro Shop
You will notice some beautiful new apparel for sale in the shop.  Come in and have a browse and get some new kit for summer!  If you are looking for some new clubs, remember we have a fitting day for the new Titleist gear on Friday 28 October.  Book now in the office.  Also The Clubroom has some pretty good deals at the moment, so pop in and see Hayden and the team.

Omokoroa Junior Open
Our first OJO was a great success.  We are now part of the BOP junior golf programme and the kids had a great day, enjoying a top prize table with trophies donated by our own club members.  Lots of smiles, a good feed free from the junior golf fund, shirts/hats/golf balls and vouchers from the clubroom.  Thanks to all our sponsors:  Team Truman Real Estate, The Clubroom, Trafalgar Trust, Bethlehem Butchery, Eagles Society, Gerrands and the Saturday Men.  Also big thanks to Swampy our intrepid president and junior advocate!  Hopefully bigger and better next year.

Twenty one hardy golfers ventured over the hill last Sunday to play an interclub tournament at the Morrinsville Golf Course. After having held the Kaimai Shield for the last few years, Omokoroa bowed to better players on the day and came third to Morrinsville and Walton. Next year this tournament will be held at Walton.

Upcoming Events:

Club Christmas Tournament – Saturday 3 December – Depending on numbers, there will probably be a morning field with prize giving, and an afternoon field with prize giving. This format seemed to work well last year.

Supper Dance/Christmas Party – Saturday 10 December – Live music and supper provided by our lovely caterer.

Booking sheets for both events will be in the office at the beginning of November.

Western Tray Matchplay
Semi Final matches for the Western Tray and Men’s Western Plate are to be played next Wednesday, the 19th of October

Sunvue Strokeplay Championship
Wahooo….. We started this competition on the 16th of March and finally finished it on Wednesday.  In an attempt to dodge extreme weather conditions in 2023 the Committee has scheduled this event earlier in the year and have compressed the period over which it is played.  Congratulations to the winners and a special thanks to Sunvue.  It was great that John Weatherley was able to make the prize giving.

Vet’s Annual General Meeting
Thanks to all of those people who remained for the AGM.  The special draw afterwards seemed really popular.  Comiserations to the two members who had left the building and missed out on their chance to win a prize.

Dates to keep in mind
19 October - Club Day and Matchplay Semi-finals
19 October – Final Round of Shootout qualifying
26 October Club Day and Matchplay Finals
31 October – Vet’s Visit to Waihi – McLean Cup
2 November – Outta the Blue Hidden Holes $50.00 gift voucher up for grabs.
6/17/18 November – 3 Day Omokoroa Country Estate sponsored Mixed Pairs Matchplay Tournament
McClean Cup, Waihi – 31st October

Thanks to the 30 members who have indicated they will support our Vets golfing contingent and interclub event with Waihi.  We play annually for this trophy and the 10 best stableford scores on the day, from each club, determines the winner of the cup.  I have requested that Waihi hold 5 carts for us and will confirm that next Wednesday for those of you who have indicated you want a cart.

Results – Wednesday 24 September
Ladies Sunvue Strokeplay Champion 2022 – Donna Dyer
Men’s Sunvue Strokeplay Champion 2022 – Graeme Davis

Daylight Saving Hours
Just a reminder that during the months of daylight saving there will be an earlier start to our Wednesday Haggle.  Cards in by 9.00am please for a 9.30am start and please, that doesn’t mean you are driving into the carpark at 8.58am!!

9 Hole Men
Spencer Tankard

A good turnout of 32 of our members enjoyed a pleasant (if not slightly damp) morning of golf to see off the last of our Competition Rounds for 2022.

Yesterday's play was Round 6 of the Net Trophy and the Haggle went to the best Net scores on the day.

The Haggle money went to:
Division 1:
Ken Hartley                         34
Tom Hansen                       35
Frank lamborn                   36
Bob Duckworth                  36

Division 2:
Spencer Tankard              33
Vic Sterling                        34
Steve Crossfield                35
Bruce Baggenstos            35

The Raffle prizes were won by Francois Richter-Visser, Chris Hogan and Frank Lamborn.

Next week the 10 Finalists in the Shootout Competition vie for the Trophy on the Back 9.  All 10 are very competitive so expect a close finish.  The Sheriffs for the day are Fed Hartley and Ken Hartley.  On past years experience it will be anyone’s game. The winner is often the player least expected.  The rest of the field will play Stableford on the Front 9.

Annan Law Saturday Men's Club Day
Congratulations to John Vartha for winning the Captains Trophy last week. Along with Vince Stanaway, they qualify to play in the Grand Slam Cup on the 29th October.

Over the next two Saturdays we will play the Senior/Junior Pairs Competition. Players can pair up with any other player and the winner will be decided by the total of their Stableford Scores. Please write the name of your partner on your scorecard and after play, your stableford totals. There is a Cup and cash prize, but no qualification for the Grand Slam Cup.

AGM and Prizegiving
The biggest day of the year on the Men's Calendar is on the 29th October.
The day starts with the A.G.M. at 10 a.m. followed by a Shotgun Haggle Start. The Grand Slam Cup is played alongside the Haggle. After play we will hold the Annual and Days prize giving, before rolling straight into the Calcutta Auction for the "Horses" in the A-One Kitchens and Interiors Shootout Final.

Finally, there will be a $250 lucky member draw for all those who played in the Haggle, and still in attendance.

Mens Committee Meeting
We meet on Saturday before play, so it is a chance to bring up any issues before the A.G.M.
