Prices Changes
As you all know inflation is hitting every part of the country (and world) at the moment.  We are not exempt.  Hence, we have made some adjustments to prices for drinks, snacks, and carts in the pro shop.  It is not likely to be the last price increase this year sadly.

Reciprocal Rates
Maraenui GC in Napier is a sister club for us and traditionally both clubs have offered free green fees.  After a request from them, we have agreed to adjust that to a 50% discount on affiliated rates.  I am currently working with Palmerston North GC to clarify our other sister club agreement.  Remember we are part of the 'Passport Rate' agreement with many BOP clubs, which entitles us to a $30 green fee.  We also currently have agreements with Whangamata (50%) and Waihi ($20).

NZ Open Squash
I am involved with running the biggest Squash event this country has seen for many years.  The NZ Festival of Squash is on from 3-13 November in Tauranga.  We are looking for volunteers who may want to get involved.  Specifically, we need folks to help out with things like driving and venue supprt, ideally during daytime hours.  If you are interested, come and see me or send me a message.  More info at festivalofsquash.co.nz

Titleist Fitting Day
The guys from The Clubroom and Titleist will be on course on Friday 28th October for a club fitting.  Book in at the office now to get your spot.

Paradise
Another nasty barrage of weather caused havoc last week… but hopefully we are looking forward to a warmer, drier summer.  We are doing our best to keep the course in the best condition we can while providing as much access as we can.  Thanks for everyone for showing patience and understanding in what has been an unprecedented winter for horrible weather.  To remind everyone of how cool our course is (even though it can be wet sometimes), check out the below photo taken by Brian Barsdell of a Paradise Duck and her ducklings earlier this week.

The golfing calendar competitions are nearly at an end. The ladies are currently playing their putting competition rounds amongst difficult weather conditions with the Saturday players unable to play theirs on the weekend as well as the Tuesday ladies who have to play in carts. To complete our competitions both Saturday and Tuesday ladies are able to play either day as their competition day in order to complete them all. It has been a tough year fitting it all in for everyone. Now that the Polar blast has blown through let’s hope we can get more regular golf with firm fairways and rough. Coming up is the ladies' Annual meeting and Prize giving evening on the 15 November.

Contributing to your Club in positive ways-  Wanted: new committee members for 2023 so please check the Ladies’ notice board. It is a very rewarding way of making our year's golf run smoothly. You also help contribute to decision-making that encourages a stronger club atmosphere amongst your division's members.

Results for Tuesday
Stb: 1st Lynda Middleton, 2nd Robyn Alabaster, 3rd Shirley Hurn.
Putting Rd 2: 1st  Lynda Smith, 2nd Maxine Cotter, 3rd Lynda Middleto

Message from Kieran Muir

I just wanted to take this chance to say a massive thanks to those who came out to support my golf in the Charles Tour events over the last two weeks. Especially over the weekend that has just past in such wet and trying conditions - it was really quite humbling.

It’s been 18 months since my last four round golf event, and although I have been putting in the work over the last ten weeks, you really don’t know how it might play out in tournament conditions until you get into it.

Rounds of 71,77,69,68 placed 24th the first week at Mount Maunganui, and 69,70,64,68 was enough to sneak in the top ten at Tauranga over the weekend.

I will have one more opportunity on the Charles Tour this year at New Plymouth golf club on labour weekend - a challenging layout where it often blows but one I enjoy.

November/December will see me head to Australia for the Australian PGA Championship followed by the Australian Open. Both events are this year joint with the DP World Tour.

Once again thanks to all the members for the kind words and support over the last few weeks - love being back out on the fairways!
