Manager's Message
Marcus Niles

Aussie Trip
I am back after a week away in Airlie Beach Australia visiting family.  I had the pleasure of playing Hamilton Island Golf Course while I was there.  Amazing setting and I highly reccommend it if you are over that way on holiday.  Just watch out for the deadly snakes in the rough!

SGM
Thanks to those who attended the SGM last week.  The annual accounts were passed unanimously.

Green Spraying
Just a note from the green staff.  The greens have recently been sprayed for Poa seed.  You may see some discolouration while the greens recover

Club Survey
Attached to this email is a 1-page summary showing results of the recent club survey.  This has provided good information to guide us moving forward and has fed our strategic plan.  Our draft plan will be sent out to members in the coming weeks for feedback.

Volunteers Wanted
Next Thursday at 930am Colin and his team are pouring the cart path on the 13th.  He looking for a few volunteers to help with the pour.  Please contact him if you are available

9 Hole Ladies

Congratulations to Strokeplay Champion for 2022 Rohanne Hancock and runner up Yvonne Hoskins.  These girls will represent us at Champion of Champions to be  held in Taupo on November 7th.   Good Luck to you both.

Last week we were very happy to host 9 Hole Ladies Tournament after 2 years of cancelled events. Despite the gloomy weather and some reshuffles at the start of the day everything ran smoothly. We had great feedback, everyone enjoyed the day, loved our course, and loved the food even better. Thanks Brittany for a wonderful array of delicious treats.

The winner of the Jeanette Williamson Trophy,  stableford competition open to Omokoroa only on the day, was won by Yvonne Hoskins.

SPRING FLING SUCCESS- No sign of rain as was predicted when 32 teams of 4 turned out for a great day of golf. Rather there was a lot of spring colour flourishing around the course as we competed for the much coveted first place. With a lot of voluntary hours put in by the ladies captain, Linley and tournament secretary, Elaine the challenge was on. Many thanks to the greenkeeper’s staff, caterer and ladies committee who all helped to make an enjoyable day. The yellow shirt team took out first prize and the Hawaiian girls had a hula of a time taking out best dressed. We would also like to thank Annabel Reyes from Tall Poppy and Stacey from Golf Girl for their sponsorship.

Weekly results:
Saturday stb- 1st Wendy harris, 2nd Sue Thomson, 3rd Jenny Davies
Tuesday  putting- 1st Maxine Cotter, 2nd Rose Thompson, 3rd Pink Leow.

Annan Law Saturday Men's Club Day
The third round of the Captains Trophy is to be played this week. Being the best 3 out of 4 stableford rounds, there are still heaps of players in contention to win. There are only four qualifying rounds of the A-One Kitchens and Interiors Shootout left to play, so time to get in a good Saturday score.

Trophies and Cups
There are still a handful of Trophies won by players from last year's completions that need to be handed in to the starter's office. They will be engraved with this year's winners, before prize giving.

Carrus Tauranga Open
This Charles Tour event is being played over the weekend. Kieren Muir tees off at 11.55 a.m. today at the Tauranga Club if you would like to go and support him. He is in 28th place on one under the card and it would be great to see some Omokoroa members getting behind him.

Men's Committee 2023
After 6 years as Club Captain, I am standing down from the Men's Committee at the A.G.M. held at the end of October. New committee members are always welcomed so the nomination forms will be pinned up on the notice board in the Men's Changing Room.

Twilight Update
Pink Leow

The response to the advertising of Twilight has been overwhelming and there are currently 56 teams registered for the competition, which is more than can be accommodated. Therefore the later registrations are on a waiting list. It is expected that not all teams will be playing every week and we would hope that the majority of registered teams will be able to play. It will be very important that when the weekly draw is circulated if your team is not able to play you should advise me as soon as possible to allow those on the wasting list to be included.

For more details on the Twilight competition, you can refer to the Competition Rule sheet at https://www.omokoroagolf.co.nz/tournaments?ComeFromCat=1635

Captains Corner
Gail Nicholls

Over 70 players competed for the Mexted and Jack Turner Trophies last Sunday. The weather played a part in ensuring a happy, holiday atmosphere and Brittany provided a delightful array of food at the end of play.

Robyn Alabaster and Swampy Marsh were the winners of the drawn pairs Mexted Trophy by one shot from Anne Cable and Ash Reed, with Robyn Alabaster and Kevin Donald snatching the winning positions in the Jack Turner individual stableford competition.  Swampy shared a few anecdotes about the trophy donors.
