Course Maintenance Week
Next week the greens staff will be conducting a maintenance week.  They will be coring the green surrounds and aprons along with a few other jobs

The course will be open for golf, but there will be no competition play, and bookings are essential.  Bear in mind you may be asked to pick up on a hole if the green is inaccessible.

The office, kitchen and bar will be open as normal.  You are welcome to come and play golf, so please book in online or in the office if you wish to play.  There will be plenty of activity and machinery on the course so please give the guys consideration, be patient, and stay clear.

Championship Pennants Playoff
Our Mens Championship team has a playoff at OGC next Sunday 4 SEP.  They need to win this tie to stay in the top division.  Tee off for the first round is 8am, so come on down to support the lads.

Annan Law Saturday Men’s Club Day
This week we play the second round of the Club Strokeplay Championships. After the weather disruptions, hopefully we’ll get the next 3 rounds completed without interruption. For the 3rd and 4th rounds, all competitors must tee off in the afternoon session. We will organise the playing groups as they are placed on the leaderboards of the different divisions.

Golf Computer Training Session
The tutorial hui to be run by Tony Allport will be held soon with a handful of people enrolled so far. We would still like to have a bigger pool of members to be able process the cards after play, so please give your names to me if you are interested.

Halberg Disability Sport Foundation Event
This annual competition hosted by the Eagles is to be held on Monday 10th October at Omanu Golf Course. There is a prize table in excess of $5000 and great sponsorship. There are both team and individual competitions for all competitors as well as a buffet meal included in the entry fee of $50.

See the Flyer on the  notice boards for details.

The Eagles Golfing Society were formed many years ago to promote golf and fellowship, have groups throughout New Zealand. Traditionally members were invited to join after having a proven contribution to their local Club, but with older members falling away, the Eagles are keen to get more players involved. Anybody interested in joining the Eagles, please speak to Swampy, Kevin Donald, Brian Page, Brian Currie or myself. There is a calendar of Events, at Courses all over NZ which the Eagles run. Money is raised for Junior Golf and the Halberg Trust. I have been a member for three years and Debbie and I have thoroughly enjoyed the Eagles competitions.

Women's World

This month we seem to have spent more days indoors than outdoors. Despite these weather conditions the ladies have continued with their competitions to the best of the conditions. I believe patience is required for some of the full fields we are playing on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The tee times are full so let’s all remember who is playing their competitions of the day. Rule 6-7 states that a golfer must play a shot “without undue delay.” The same rule for the players who’ve just completed a hole (other than the 18th), stating that they must proceed to the next tee to continue their round and not “unduly delay play.”

With the softer greens we are taking more care to repair our pitch marks and not leave it for someone else. Good to see ladies. Thank you to the greenkeepers who have got them up to a good speed.

Finally the ladies have managed to compete for our prestigious 2022 Matchplay Championship Trophies. The Silver and Bronze 1 played 36 holes on a Sunday with some great support from the ladies in heavy  conditions. The Bronze 2, 3 and 4 divisions played theirs on a sunny day but also in heavy conditions. Congratulations go to the following;

Silver winner is Kellie Orchard. Runner up Donna Dyer
Bronze 1 is Lynda Smith.  Runner up Janice Bell
Bronze 2 is Diana Price.  Runner up Judy Lewer
Bronze 3 is Mary Findlay.  Runner up Margaret Findsen

Also The August LGU Results are as follows-
Silver- Maxine Cotter, Bronze 1 Debbie Clarke, Bronze 2 Dee Mc Crea, Bronze 3 Julie Howard, Bronze 4 Margaret Findsen.
