Rain Rain Rain!!
Man, we have a lot of it!
We have had a good look around today and have made the call to close for the weekend. The worst of the rain is hopefully behind us so we hope to open again on Monday.
Long standing members are saying its some of the worst rain they have seen for a very long time.
Thursday Long Lunch
Massive thanks to all the members and guests who came along yesterday for our 'Thursday Long Lunch'. It was an awesome turnout and really shows how supportive the members are for Brittany. We will look to do it again I'm sure.
Looking for Cobbles
If anyone has any 230mm x 190mm cobbles lying around please get in touch with the office. The volunteers want to do more steps on the third tee block
Hole Inserts
There has been some discussion around the inserts in the holes. The reason they are there is to protect the holes. Now that the flag can be left in, retreiving balls can damage the hole, and the inserts do make a difference in reducing damage.
There have been some folks taking matters into their own hands and throwing them away. Please respect the greens staff and volunteers by leaving them in place.
They will remain in place during the wet months, and we will assess the need for them during summer months.
Wet Weather Rules
With the weather the way it is, it might be a good time to remind folks of a couple of rules regarding wet conditions. Thanks to James Alexander for providing these useful tips
Relief for Abnormal Course Conditions in the general area (Not in a bunker, penalty area or on the green)
Drop your ball, without penalty, in the nearest dry point in the general area, not nearer the hole. A dry area is defined as where no water is visible when you take up your stance.
Relief from Abnormal Course Conditions in a bunker.
As above, dropping, without penalty in the bunker. If it becomes necessary to drop outside the bunker, you may, for one penalty stroke, take Back On The Line Relief. This means that the relief Area is on a line running from the hole, through the spot of the original ball's position, out to behind the bunker, where you may drop as far back as you like.
Relief for Abnormal Course Conditions on the green
Place your ball on the nearest spot, not nearer the hole, which gives you as dry a line as possible to the hole.
Embedded Ball in the general area
An embedded ball is defined as when a part of the ball, embedded in its own pitchmark, is below the surface of the ground. Free relief is taken within one club length from the original ball, not nearer the hole. The original ball must be marked before taking Relief. Failure to do so one penalty shot.
Embedded ball on the green
The ball may be marked, lifted, cleaned, and the pitchmark repaired before the ball is replaced on the exact spot where it landed.
Note In using any of these Rules you may NEVER drop from the general area onto the green.
No Relief may be taken from any of these rules if the ball is in a penalty Area
