Speed of Play
I played my first Saturday recently, and with a near-full field we got thru in under 4 hours!  I don't think you could do that at many clubs around tha Bay.  Clearly we have a great culture of 'ready golf' and things move very well!  Well done everyone

Course Update
Colin Gee

Just a quick note regarding the fallen trees on the course. We have two quotes:
1. $13,000
2. $16,000

With both these quotes, large and heavy machinery is involved.  We are still waiting for the insurance company to give us the go ahead.  Had we just gone ahead and done the clean-up, without this approval, the club may have been left with the bill.  We have a plan B , which involves large and heavy machinery, and numerous working bees.

Regards

Twilight Update
Pink Leow

Another beautiful sunny evening enjoyed by 76 players on Wednesday. The competition this week was combined
nett which clearly suited some pairs more than others. Winners on the night were George Brodie and Sam Bartosh with a very impressive nett 66. They were followed by Vince and Raewyn Stanaway and Mike and Joanne Dean both with nett 69. Big movers on the overall leader board were Mike and Joanne who are now in 3rd place overall. Keith and Kerry maintain a one point lead at the top over Brett and Brad.

Next week will be the final round of twilight for this season (weather permitting). Please wear BRIGHT red for the occasion. In addition to the usual meat pack prizes there will also be wine prizes for nearest to the pin and the longest putt.

Don’t worry if you are not at the top of the overall leader board – prizes should go down quite a way. This is thanks to the generosity of the our wonderful sponsors:- The Clubroom, Par NZ Golfing Holidays and Bethlehem Butchery.

Dinner was a fabulous meatballs and spaghetti dish with green salad which really went down very well with everyone. The lucky winner of the free dinner (courtesy of Trudie) was Peter Tetzlaff.

The draw for next Wednesday along with playing format will be sent out on Monday – accompanied by the dinner menu.

9 Hole Men
Spencer Tankard

27 good keen men showed up for yesterday’s Net Competition and the first round of this year’s Shootout.

The usual suspects came to the fore with some good scoring, especially on the Back 9. Not much else to report as I wasn’t there but I can say that Tom Hansen has already set an impressive bar for the Player of the Year Trophy with his 39 gross on the Back 9. Can he better that on the Front 9??
Tom capped that off with a 2 on #11 matched only by Chris Lynch, also on #11.
A special shout out to Vic Sterling who returned to the fold after recovering from the misfortunes that beset him in 2021. Wonderful to have you back Vic and we can all hope for that a much happier 2022 comes your way.

The Haggle prizes for the Net Competition went to:

Division 1:
Tom Hansen                                       33
Chris Lynch                                         34
Frank Baggenstos                            35
Lynton Holmes                  36

Division 2:
Bruce Baggenstos                            35
David Bennett                                   35
Bruce Blair                                           36
Jerry Walker                                       37

The boys lucked out on the Raffle prizes with all winnings going to the Ladies who bought up all the numbers that the honourable gentlemen discarded.
Winners were: Carol Holmes - Chicken, Ali Howarth - $10 and Robin Lusby - Wine. The girls have all the luck!

Next week, 10th March we play the Stableford Competition-Round 1 and the Putting Competition- Round 1.
