Manager's Message
Marcus Niles
Great to see some rain this week!  The precipitation is already starting to weave it's magic with a bit more green around the course.  I have to say how impressed I am with our green staff keeping our greens so healthy in such tough conditions.  Hopefully we get a bit more rain to ease pressure on them.

COVID
With the looming Omicron outbreak we need to expect some disruption to our services.  We are trying to mitigate the risk as best we can to try to avoid any shutdowns.  Please try to act as carefully as possible, even though it may seem a bit over the top.

12th Gate
As mentioned in the Board Update - those who wish to purchase a Fob for the gate, please come in to the office.

New Staff
I am really excited to welcome Trudie and Rachel to 'Team OGC'!  Both ladies start in the next week or so and I know you will all make them feel welcome, as you have done with me.  They will take a wee while to find their feet, and I expect there will be some changes to a few things in the clubhouse, so please be open minded and considerate as we work things out.

Twilight Update
Pink Leow

I was driving home with 28 meat packs on Wednesday afternoon and the sky opened and thunder could be heard – I feared the worst. As it turned out we were very lucky and it was a lovely warm (and humid) evening out there.

Good news - Nathan and Rick finally have their handicap. Bad news – they have to pay $5 to join in the haggle.

Wednesday competition was Combined nett and was very closely contested. 4 teams were tied on nett 70 – but winners on a countback were Dawn and Steve Rumney. Steve shot a very impressive 37 off the stick. Dawn and Steve have moved up to equal second on the overall leaderboard (along with Mike and Joanne Deane and Keith Bardswell and Kerry Duggan) while Brett Dingle and Brad Hale remain out in front.

The lucky winner of the free dinner (courtesy of Jarrod) was Jeff Beanland – who also landed one of the spot prizes.

The draw for next Wednesday along with playing format will be sent out on Monday – accompanied by the dinner menu.

The Week Ahead

February already!!, well from Tuesday on. A quieter week next week with just Vet’s Club Day on Wednesday. A Nett competition for one and all.

The Week Just Passed.

Wow .. the heat was oppressive on Wednesday. A smaller field than usual for a Wednesday. I’m putting it down to a forecast for rain on the day and the anticipated stifling temperature.

Still …. No excuses for not signing cards. It was disappointing to see a couple of players miss out on prizes due to this small and important oversight. Let’s get into the habit of reminding each other before leaving the course.

Thanks for the update on course activity Colin. It’s nice to hear directly from the Course Convernor what is happening around the traps and what improvement work is coming up.

Events coming up

Events that people may be interested in –

· 30 January - Club Opening Day

The Vet’s 3 Day tournament in February is as popular as ever. Entries have closed and the final push to the starting line for the organisers has begun. People should have received an update in the last couple of days. If not let me know and I will ensure you get one and are included in future emails.

Sue Waller and Ian Graham are taking entries for the Naked Meats Shootout. See them with your $20.00 entry fee in hand.

Annan Law Saturday Men’s Club Day

We play the first round of the Carroll Cup this Saturday, which is the best 3 out of 4 nett rounds. The trophy winner from last year is Peter Stallard who will be keen to win again.

The Summer Cup results saw Ash Pennell win from Stewart Green and they both go through qualify for the Grand Slam Cup at the end of the year. Alan Nicholls finished in 3rd place.

A-One Kitchens and Interiors Shootout 2022

The first round of qualifying was held last week. This year we have decided there is no charge and everyone who plays in the Saturday Haggle will have their scores lodged in the Shootout qualifying. The best 5 Stableford Scores throughout the year count.

Pennants Interclub

We have entered teams in the Championship Grade(up to 9.4), Intermediates (9.5 - 15.4) and Juniors (15.5 and above). The entry lists are posted on the notice board in the mens changing room. The first round is scheduled for Sunday 20th February.

A fair spell of weather greeted all 24 of us for yesterdays Bingo~Bango~Bongo Competition.
There were no excuses for poor golf.
The format for the day was Stableford and some very good scores were recorded.
As I described earlier Bingo~Bango~Bongo is a fun competition and doesn’t in any way detract from Genuine Stableford.
As long as you can keep count!!

Bingo~Bango~Bongo Winners on the day were:

 Bingo~Bango~Bongo  Stableford
 Tom Hansen 10  18
 Jim Avis  10 17
 Denis Mason 10 14
 Allan Hoskins  9 19
 John Carmichael  9 18

Top Stableford scorer was Frank Brown on 20. He didn’t do so well on the Bingo~Bango~Bongo.

Raffle Prizes were won by: Frank Brown, Murray Wills, Frank Baggenstos

Of special note is the arrival of Paul Cole to join our happy band.
Paul is a Kiwi but has been a resident of WA for a good many years.
Paul has only just moved into Bethlehem Shores so has a lot to get his head around.
Please make Paul welcome
