Course Rating

We were fortunate to have Phil Aickin (NZ Golf Handicapping & Service manager) and also Mark Webb (NZ Golf Regional Support Manager) attend the course on Wednesday this week. They undertook an extremely detailed rating of our course and we look forward to seeing the result of this in the near future. This may well alter our slope course rating, Handicap Index and could also have an impact on the individual hole Stroke Index, watch the space.

Drone and photos

One of our members has kindly offered to use his drone to take aerial photos of the golf course for the website. Should you notice any drone around, make sure you have a good practice swing.

Cart use - status updated daily on website

Did you know that we update the website on a daily basis as needed re carts use and open status. This picture above shows you where you can find the updates. So you can check the website before you head out to the course. If it is a no carts day we will put try and put the date on there as well so you know it’s been updated.

Also if the bunkers are swimming pools and I am advised they are GUR I have been putting this on the scorecards for you so there is no confusion. I will remove it again when advised to do so.

Reporting Incidences
If there is an incidence/safety hazard you want to report to the office and you or fellow players have a smart phone with you please take a photo of the people/thing. This makes it far easier for us to identify what and who we are dealing with.

For example – If you see someone driving a cart on the edge of our greens, or people teeing off when it’s not their time, then snap a pic and it will help with us directly speaking to them regarding that. They do not need to know who took the photo and this will help us to keep our course open and functioning well for all other users as much as possible.

If you are cart drivers driving where you should not, please follow the winter guide lines and you won’t get snapped!

Cart Cleaning Volunteers

Thanks to those who have volunteered. We are still looking for 2 more volunteers to do one clean every 5-6 weeks as a part of our carts volunteers team. (will be approx. an hour of your time a month). Please let us know at the office if you can help. Many hands make light work.

Covid 19 update
We have heard from our casual contact covid person today and as considered low risk their test result is still pending as high risk contacts tests are being put to the front of the testing que. However, the spouse has had their result through already and that is negative. So that is another good sign.

Today’s covid 19 announcement from Wellington is there are no community cases at all in Wellington. This is excellent news. I will let you know as soon as I officially get the result through.

Annan Law Saturday Men’s Club Day

After the cancellation of our golf last Saturday we are going to use the same tee times as last week. The Handicap Matchplay competitors are free to arrange matches in their own time, but we would like all 2nd round matches completed by Wednesday next week. There are weather and COVID-19 setbacks that are getting in the way at present. If Saturday play is affected by these problems we will postpone the $250 lucky member draw.

Men’s Committee Meeting

We gather for a hui this Saturday at 9.30 a.m. Anyone with suggestions or issues please speak to a committee member.

Laing Cup Handicap Pennants

Our team of 8 play against Mount at the Tauranga Club this Sunday. As it clashes with the Eagles Foursomes Event we are looking for a couple more players to fill in. Please give your names to myself or Team Captain, Neil Howard on Saturday.

Week just been

What a gorgeous day out there on Wednesday although a coolish breeze was in attendance early afternoon. The course and the greens are a lot softer now especially after last weekend’s heavy rain. Let’s look after our course and replace divots on the fairways, and repair pitch marks on the greens.

Thinking of wetlands, it was great to see our club president ‘Swampy’ back out on the course again. Welcome back.

We maintained our Wednesday turnout average with 82 Vet’s taking to the course this weekend. Well done.

Congratulations to Robyn Alabaster, Evan Aitken and Bruce Lewer winners of their respective divisions of the Classic 100 Nett competition, sponsored by Classic Builders.

Our Captain also presented the trophies for the winners of our Western Tray and Western Plate competition.

Well done again, Cherry, Evan and Gus.
