General Managers Message
Allan Botha

Dear Members,

What a fantastic week it has been with our new facilities open and operational. I think it caught all of us by surprise just how busy things became, with visitors and guests coming from all over to experience the club.

On Thursday morning, it felt like a bus had arrived. Every seat in the café area was taken, creating a wonderful atmosphere throughout the clubhouse. My favourite moment was seeing a group of ladies push four or five tables together, with around 16 of them gathered around, enjoying coffee, conversation, and a sweet treat. It was exactly the type of vibrant community atmosphere we hoped the new facilities would create.

Our new barista, Andy, certainly had his hands full, but he did a fantastic job keeping the coffees flowing. Jane, our Food & Beverage Manager, worked tirelessly to keep up with demand and ensure everyone was looked after. This was their first full week, and no one anticipated just how busy it would be. The good news is that the team is excited and motivated to settle into a rhythm that allows us to serve both members and guests as quickly and accurately as possible.

I would also like to remind members that the course will be closed for maintenance from 31 August to 4 September. Due to still being one team member short in our Greenkeeping Department, we will be focusing on the most important turf management practices during this period, including spiking, verticutting, and top dressing the greens to address thatch build-up and ensure the long-term health and performance of our putting surfaces.

We are also pleased to welcome our new Course Superintendent, Carl Rumble, who will commence on 7 September. We are looking forward to having Carl join the team and helping us continue to enhance the quality of our course.

Thank you to all members who have taken the time to provide feedback during this transition period. Your input is important and appreciated. I would ask that any feedback be directed to me personally, as our new team members are still settling into their roles and can be easily affected by criticism while they are finding their feet.

With that in mind, I would like to restart my weekly catch-up sessions over a cup of coffee. Beginning immediately, I will be available every Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the café to answer any questions you may have. If I do not have the answer at the time, I will make sure I find it and get back to you.

Finally, thank you for your ongoing support, passion, and patience. These exciting changes are only possible because of the commitment of our members. Remember, this is your club, and you should be proud of what we are building together.

This Saturday is the final round of the Strokeplay Club Championships, each division is tight at the top so will make for a great final day of the championship. If any sudden death playoffs are required to separate the scores at the end of play the first play off hole is the 18th, followed by 10,11,12 before heading back down 18.

The final group in each division is:

C Grade Graeme Muir, Shaun Murphy, Mark Rose & Hugh Moleta

Junior Don Haywood, Gary Marshall, Tony Allport & Peter Kilpatrick

Intermediates Mike Keir, Daz Dixon, Roger Conder & Patrick Hawkings

Seniors Jordan Shaw, Blair Murdock, Andrew Morgan & Brent Jenkins

The winner and runner up of each division also qualify for the Grand Slam being held in October.

It is also the final round of qualifying for the matchplay championship which is scheduled to being 19th September.  The final number of qualifiers will be determined after the final round, we currently envisage the top 16 will qualify for the matchplay championship.

Saturday prizegiving will be presenting the trophies to our strokeplay winners, we also have a $250 member draw which you will have to be present at to win! We look forward to celebrating our strokeplay winners with you all in our new facilities.

This years shootout is also incredibly close, we have 14 golfers currently with one shot between them for a qualifying space. It might come down to a sudden death qualifying playoff yet in the shootout!!

Lets hope we avoid any potential damp weather and enjoy a fantastic conclusion to our strokeplay championship.
