General Managers Message
From Allan Botha, General Manager

Dear Members,

Another productive week has ticked by, and once again we’re seeing fantastic progress with the new clubhouse and car park — they really are taking shape right in front of our eyes. It’s an exciting time for our club, and each day brings us one step closer to something truly special.

But let me ask you — have you ever had a bird’s-eye view of our clubhouse and course? No? Well, let me help you out…

Click the link below to see what our course and clubhouse look like from the perspective of seagulls flying overhead and use your finger or curser to move their heads for a full 360-degree view — it’s pretty impressive!

Gull 1, Gull 2, Gull 3, Gull 4, Gull 5

It really gives you a sense of just how incredible this development is and the scale of what we’re building together.

Thanks, Daryl Muir, for providing the seagulls.

Now is the time to get excited about our new facilities — and more importantly, to start spreading the word! Tell your non-golfing friends all about it. Invite them along for a coffee, breakfast, lunch… or more.

And here’s a little secret I’ll share with you (soft whisper voice)…
the money your friends spend here goes straight into the club’s account…

Which means — wait for it — they could actually be helping fund future course projects.

Now that’s something worth getting behind!

On that note, it’s already great to see the momentum building. We are starting to receive event enquiries, along with interest in hosting golf days. Clearly, word is getting around that our new clubhouse is going to be something pretty epic — and rightly so.

As for me this week… well, no golf — I was a bit under the weather.
Oh no, sorry… I did sneak in 9 holes with some of the team from NZIQS, who are looking at hosting their annual golf day here around October/November. A good outing and a promising connection for the club.

Looking ahead, I’ve been invited to join the Vets next week — thanks to Steve Weatherly for the invite. I’m really looking forward to it, contributing to the prize pool, and spending some time with the group. Rest assured — your prizes are safe… my golf is pretty average at the moment!

A Word Around The Greens
Nathan Kerr, Head Greenkeeper

With the growth slowing down a little it’s giving us the opportunity to tidy up the scruffy areas of the course such as edging the cart paths, creek edges, around drainage grates and sprinkler heads.

The greens are healthy and rolling good, the sanding and virti cutting is helping with this process.

The course has multiple clean up jobs to do and these will be worked on and completed over the next few months.

Enjoy your golf

This week we managed to get our games in before the rain. We played the semi final of our Match Play and Plate Championships.  The rest of the field had a Nett haggle.  Coming in with a top score of 34 Nett was Marg Griffiths, followed with 35 was Lesley Paton and Dianne Litten.  Astrid Martin had a 36 and Chris Kelly with 37.  Well done to all our winners.  Fingers crossed for fine weather for the finals of Match and Plate Championships next week.
