General Managers Message
Allan Botha

Dear Members,

I hope you are all well and enjoying some great golf out on the course.

5th Hole – Green Surrounds & Pathway Progress
Work on the 5th hole surrounds is nearing completion. The new section of pathway has now been fully finished, and I’d like to extend a big thank-you to the volunteers who generously gave their time earlier this week to help get us there.

The area between the new path and the green is now prepared for mulching and seeding, which will take place on Wednesday, 18 March

Due to this work, the 5th hole will return to playing to the temporary green from Wednesday 18 March through to Monday 30 March while the new seed establishes. This change should have minimal impact on play, as the course will be closed for coring from Monday 23 March to Friday 27 March. We appreciate your patience as we complete this important work.

Please note that the same temporary green will be used again. The distance to the temporary green is 35 metres shorter than the regular green.  If your golf ball finishes in the mulched area, carefully remove your ball without disturbing the mulch or seed. Please proceed under Rule 16.1 – Abnormal Ground Conditions, and take free relief, no nearer the hole.

Coring Week – Volunteers Needed
Coring week is almost here, and we are once again seeking your help.

Weather permitting, we plan to begin coring midday on Sunday 22 March, aiming to complete 4–5 greens before continuing from the 5th hole onwards on Monday. Getting this early start will help our fantastic team of volunteers who assist with clearing the cores.

We need two volunteer teams each day

  • Team AM: 10:00am – 12:00pm
  • Team PM: 12:00pm – 2:00pm

If you can assist, please email me with your name, contact number, and which team you’d like to join. Your support makes a huge difference.

Course Etiquette Reminder
A quick thank-you to Rob Mitford-Burgess, who has been setting a great example with his course care—keeping his cart the required 10 metres from the greens and diligently repairing pitch marks. Small actions like these help maintain the quality of our playing surfaces for everyone.

Pennants Update
Our Pennants teams gave it their all this season but unfortunately did not progress to the knockout stages. Dale Chadwick shared some thoughtful feedback on his team’s performance, and his passion for improvement is clear. Like many of us, he’s determined to see us become more competitive next year. As they say—sometimes Pennants feels a bit more like penance

Planned Power Outages
A reminder that due to planned maintenance in the area:

  • Tuesday 17 March – No power at the club
  • Tuesday 24 March – No power at the club

There will be no bar service on those days. The outage on the 24th should have minimal impact as the course is already closed for coring.

Thank you all for your continued support, patience, and teamwork. The improvements we are making now will benefit the course for years to come.

If you have any questions or wish to volunteer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Weekly Member Drop-In Session – Next week Monday
In an effort to ensure accurate information is shared and to keep communication open, I will be making myself available on Monday, 16 March 2026 in the Marquee from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Feel free to grab a coffee and join me to discuss any issues, concerns, or ideas you may have. If I don’t have an immediate answer for you, I will make sure to follow up as soon as possible.

Your feedback and questions are always welcome—let’s keep the conversation going!

The Word Around The Green

Nathan Kerr, Head green keeper.

An update on the 5th green surround project.

The job has gone very smoothly and to plan.

Next Wednesday the area will be hydro seeded which is an effective faster method of getting the grass seed too strike and establish quicker than other methods.

I am confident with the drainage lines that have been installed and the area been built up with soil and sand that this will now be dryer and playable all year round.

Enjoy your golf.
