  • Afternoon Field: Open to members only during this time.
  • Scorecards: Our office team will do their best to pre-print your scorecards before the power goes out.
  • Bar Hours: The bar will be open from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm once power is restored.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Further to last week’s newsletter, please find attached a letter from Hannah Rae Siefert, presented to Mount Maunganui Golf Club by Golf NZ legal counsel. This letter recommends steps for clubs to mitigate health and safety risks related to golf balls leaving the property.  Click here to read Hannah Rae Siefert Letter.

Course Etiquette Spotlight

Good golf etiquette goes a long way—and these days, it extends even further with the introduction of carts, trundlers, and bikes

Here’s an example (Click Here) of great etiquette from a group of Omokoroa members:
They parked their carts 5–10 meters from the edge of the green and in the right location to help speed up play and look after the course

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more short clips showing good etiquette around our course. Feel free to:

  • Share your standout moments.
  • Let me know who deserves a mention for always doing more by filling more than one divot, repairing their own ball marks and others, or raking bunkers

Let’s keep Omokoroa Golf Club a great place to play!

In an effort to ensure accurate information is shared and to keep communication open, I will be making myself available on Tuesday this coming week, due to the planned power outage on Monday. Looking forward to seeing you Tuesday 9 December in the Marquee from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Feel free to grab a coffee and join me to discuss any issues, concerns, or ideas you may have. If I don’t have an immediate answer for you, I will make sure to follow up as soon as possible.

It did not take long for the new 2s jackpot and hidden holes jackpot to be struck, with Bruce Bell taking home $128 on the hidden holes jackpot and Blair Murdoch $25 as well (as 2 new Titleist ProV) for the win on the 2s jackpot, well done lads! The jackpots reset this week. A reminder that all 2s now win a high quality golf ball. Also the return of the meat packs for the raffles was well received.

This weekend is the Mens Section Christmas Hamper, to qualify for entry you must have entered 10 haggles (including tomorrows Hamper) during the year. Checking the tee sheet it seems nearly everyone booked to play has qualified for entry. Apologies in advance to those that have not qualified as there will not be a competition for you this Saturday. This year the field will be split into 3 evenly sized divisions depending on the handicap split of the field, so we will not know the handicap division splits until entire field has started. The best advice I can give you is to post the best stableford score you can! Also keep an eye out for some variations on the special prizes this week, especially when putting on the 9th and 18th Greens.

Enjoy the Hamper tomorrow, the weather is looking good!

The Gobbler

The final of this event was held after golf on Tuesday. Thirty ladies qualified for the chip off, by chipping into the hole from off the green any time during the year.
Pink Leow won the final this year.
Thank you again to Janice Bell and Sue Thompson for running the event. It was a fun and amusing (to the spectators!) way to end the year.
