General Managers Message
From the desk of Allan Botha-

Health & Safety Reminder

All members with golf carts are kindly reminded to drive slowly around the fenced-off build site. Our contractors at Iline and staff have reported a few near misses, particularly near their entry and exit gates.

To improve safety:

  • We’ve placed traffic cones around the area.
  • Iline has removed fence screens to improve visibility.

Please take extra care when navigating these areas. Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe.

Vets Vibes
Ian Howells

No golf for the Vets on Wednesday the 19th November with the course closed because of the extreme rain event.

Article that will be in the Lizard this weekend.

The Omokoroa Golf Club successfully held a 3 Day Vets Mixed Pairs Matchplay tournament from the 12th – 14th November. The tournament was a scheduled event on the 2025 NZ Vets golf calendar and is the 33rd time the event has been held at Omokoroa. 96 players competed over 3 days in 6 groups made up of 8 mixed pairs in each group. This was a reduced field from previous years due to the construction of the new clubhouse. Except for some afternoon rain on Wednesday, players enjoyed good weather and a well-prepared golf course. The course was ready for Thursday’s play as scheduled after recovering from Wednesday night's storm. A big thank you to green staff and all the volunteers that have made the course so resilient now after weather events. The temporary facilities provided during the construction of the new clubhouse were also sufficient for the competitors.

Omokoroa Country Estate’s ongoing sponsorship of the event is greatly appreciated and the attendance of the manager at the event prize giving. The Shergold Trophy (unfortunately locked away in storage containers for the new build) is presented to the Winner of the A group and Ilma Shergold was in attendance at the prize giving to present the Winners prize.

Results 3 Day Vets Mixed Pairs Matchplay (Omokoroa Country Estate Sponsor)

Group A – Karen and Terry Tapp (Shergold Trophy Winners) R/U – Dawn and Stephen Rumney

Group B – Mandy Rusk and Mark Potter R/U – Donna Dyer and John Holloway

Group C – Ross and Rae Milne – R/U Gail Nicols and Mark Dodd

Group D – Judy Crawford and George Griffin – R/U Marilyn and Graeme Harrison

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

Greetings to all our members. It is great to see that the major main drain is certainly working well after the big wet, the course has dried out after the 120mm rain midweek.

Number one cart path is now complete at the turning area thanks to all our volunteers.

Please make sure you support the Caddyshack. Kellie and Brett look forward to seeing your friendly faces

Hope you enjoy reading about all the busy times around the course. Happy Golfing

Number 10 will play as a par 3 for a short time. It has been Rotary hoe'd ready for cooch stolons to be spread. KD has almost prepped it.

Please be careful going down 10 as KD & Colin are extending the tee so earthworks are happening and keep clear of the holes that have been dug ready for safety fencing.

Rob Mitford Burgess has organised the poles and netting for the safety fencing and we will be working on that over the next week.
