General Managers Message
From the desk of Allan Botha

What a start to November!

The first couple of weeks blessed us with fantastic weather. Honestly, sitting in the office overlooking the 9th green felt like being in prison! Luckily, I managed to escape last Saturday and joined the Saturday Men’s group for a round.

I teamed up with Andrew Hemphill against Ben van den Borst and Bryan Pirani. Andrew and I fought hard, but once again, we ended up buying the beers after losing on the 18th hole. Bryan sealed the deal with a brilliant second shot and a birdie—well played, Bryan!

A Special Moment

After the game, I had the privilege of witnessing the unveiling of a new trophy: “The Volunteers Trophy”, dedicated to three incredible contributors—Kevin Donald, Colin Gee, and John Marsh (Swampy). Their commitment to the club is truly inspiring. I wonder who will be first one to lift this trophy in honour of these fine gentlemen?

Course Update

Please note: Starting Monday, 17th November, the 10th hole will play as a 115-meter Par 3 for approximately 6–8 weeks. This temporary change is part of ongoing improvements, so thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

We Need Your Help!

Colin Gee and our greenkeeping team are looking for 12 willing and able volunteers to help move turf from the 10th fairway to the cart path surrounds near the 1st green.

  • When: Monday, 8:00 AM
  • Where: Meet Colin and the team on the 10th fairway

Your support makes a huge difference—come lend a hand and be part of the progress!

Thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and commitment to making Omokoroa Golf Club a fantastic place to play and connect. See you on the course!

A Word Around The Greens
Nathan Kerr, Head Greenkeeper

Nice to see the sunshine and warmth kicking in with less wind, great golf conditions.

Next week will be a busy week for us on the golf course.

The 10th fairway will be out of play from Monday and a temporary par 3 will be played while we work on preparing the fairway for couch sowing.

The time frame will be around 6 weeks until you  can start playing golf off the newly established couch grass.

Also next week the green staff and volunteers will be working on the 11th hole.

The left hand bunker will be filled in and then turfed with new grass and also we will be working on the front of the 11th green to level out and improve the this area as it’s wet and uneven.

Enjoy your golf.
