General Managers Message
From the desk of Allan Botha – General Manager

17 October 2025

Dear Members,

We have a mix of celebration, progress, and important updates to share with you this week.

Happy 90th Birthday to James Alexander!

A huge congratulations to James, whom celebrated his 90th birthdays this week. What a milestone! With your experience and wisdom, perhaps shooting your age on the course will be just a little easier now. We wish you continued health and happiness.

Clubhouse Build Update
The clubhouse project is on track, with demolition nearly complete. We’ve ironed out a few connection issues in our temporary facilities, and things are running more smoothly now. Thank you for your patience and support during this transition. Click here to view

Help Us Keep Things Tidy
A small but important request: please place your rubbish in the correct bins. This helps Sandra immensely, as she currently has to sort through waste to separate recyclables from general trash. Let’s all do our part to keep the club clean and efficient.

Bar Operations Update
As you know, we’ve transitioned to our temporary bar space, which comes with limited facilities. We’ve conducted a full financial review of bar revenues and direct costs, and unfortunately, the numbers show that we’re not recovering costs with enough margin to support bar operations.

As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to increase bar prices across all product lines to ensure sustainability. Additionally, the member loyalty scheme will be suspended until we move into our new clubhouse.

We understand this may be disappointing, but we hope you’ll continue to support the club and bar during this transitional period. Your support is vital to keeping our community strong.

9 Hole Ladies
Jacqui Kerr

This week we played the second round of stoke play and we had a net haggle.

Sue Smith and Rohanne Hancock will represent our club at the Champion of Champions which will be played at the Mount on November 3rd. We wish them the best of luck.

Winners of the haggle were Rohanne Hancock with 33: Irene Hallam and Sue Smith with 34 and Janet Burmeister with 35. Margaret Findsen and Robin Lusby received golf balls.

9 Hole Men

A beautiful day on the greens for 29 keen golfers trying their luck with the ODDBALL.

The key challenge with this game was the requirement for each team to return their ODDBALL at the end of the 9 Holes.

Failure to do so meant the offending team was disqualified from the Haggle!! Cruel I know.

As it so happens only one of the Front 9 teams read the memo and successfully returned their ODDBALL. The remaining 3 teams didn’t and were disqualified!!

This meant that there was only one team left in the Haggle with an impressive score of 7 Stablefords!

Haggle winners were:

Front 9 with a score of 7

Nelson Cull, Bruce Baggenstos, Blair Francis, Brien James

Back 9 with a score of 19.

Francois Richter-Visser, Rusty Hyland, Larry Stocks, Trevor Smith

Raffle prizes were won by

Francois Richter-Visser

Jim Avis

Blair Francis.

Next week, Thursday 23rd we will play Canadian Foursomes.

There will also be a Committee Meeting afterwards.

I'm still looking for a few more helpers for the series. A workshop will be held this Sunday at 3pm to go over what we will be doing. You don't have to be an expert golfer just willing to help women get started in golf. The programme will run for 6 weeks from the start of November and will be on Monday evenings.
