General Managers Message
Allan Botha

Dear Members,

I hope this message finds you well.

This past week brought drier weather—thankfully!—though it’s been noticeably colder. On Friday, August 1st, I had the pleasure of joining the Friday Haggle group for a round of golf. My playing partner, Stephen and I had a close match against Swampy and John. We managed to halve the match by winning the 18th hole—just in time!

Despite the heavy rain earlier in the week, the course was surprisingly dry, and the greens were in excellent condition. A big thank you to our grounds team for their continued hard work.

Over the coming weeks, I’m looking forward to joining more of your playing groups. It’s a great opportunity to meet many of you and learn more about your golfing needs. I’ll also be connecting with all the player group captains during our monthly meetings.

In addition, I’ll be joining the Course Advisory Group and attending board meetings soon. These gatherings will provide valuable insight into how we can continue improving the club experience for everyone.

Looking forward to seeing you out on the course!

Junior Golf Japan Trip Fundraiser
Jarvis Grainger

Hi All,

I hope you're all doing well!

My name is Jarvis Grainger a Junior member of the club and I am heading to Japan in September / October with a couple of other Omokoroa Golf Club Juniors George Pardy and Miller Barnes, we have been selected as part of the Tauranga Boys' College representative golf trip.

To help cover the costs we all have part time jobs and have been fundraising really hard. The last event we are putting on is a golf fundraiser here at  Omokoroa Golf Club on Saturday, September 6th with a stableford competition.

We’d love your support!  We are still looking for more sponsors if you would like to contribute please talk to Swampy the club President.

The day itself kicks off at 7:30pm with a normal Saturday Tee sheet. Entry is $25 this will be the only haggle entry fee on the day, and you can book your usual tee booking on dotgolf. Prize giving will be around 5:30pm with a physical prize table and plenty of prizes up for grabs along with raffles and an auction so if you play early we would encourage you to come back in for more fun.

We would like to thank the Saturday Mens and Womens Groups for allowing us to incorporate this into your normal Saturday club competitions

On the day, we’ll be on the 6th hole hitting tee shots. If you want, you can pay $5 to use one of our shots for your comp score — should be fun!

If you can help or want to know more, just reply to this email.

Thanks heaps for your support!

Jarvis Grainger - on behalf of Miller Barmes and George Pardy

Some great golf from our Senior Club Champion Richard Apanui to set an ‘unofficial’ course record on the Blue/White combination course last Saturday, shooting an excellent 71. Due to the course conditions of placing in the general area, it will have to wait until the course dries out a bit before we are able to set an official course record on the combination course. Feedback has been very positive on the new combined tee option and we will definitely use it more in the warmer/drier months.

This Saturday we are back to our usual white tees and have the first round of the Carroll Cup, which is being played over the next four weeks. To make this event a little more interesting we also have an Eclectic competition going over the four rounds (eclectic is also sometimes known as rounders). The way this works is your best score on each individual hole over the four rounds counts to a final 18 hole score for you. So you have 4 bites at the cherry to make a good score on each hole!

Also if anyone is holding any golf trophies from last year could they please return them to the office at your convenience.

Happy golfing everyone

Thank you to all our Sponsors
Craig King - NZ Electrical, Philip Annan -Annan Law, Raewyn Stanaway -Barfoot and Thompson, Ben Taylor - Bethlehem Butchery, Chris Rhind - Stay Right Contracting
