Relaunch – Advanced Subscription Offer
New Clubhouse Project

We now have the final plans for our fixed-price, design/build clubhouse project and are negotiating the contract details.

If we are to proceed then we need to secure sufficient up-front funding to meet the thresholds that are necessary for securing a bank loan and grant funding.

Two identified sources for the required up-front funding are member loans and advanced subscriptions.

We were extremely disappointed with the lack of up-take for the $16,500/ten year subscription offer, even though we believe that it would deliver long term value for participants.  We understand, however that for many, ten years was an excessive time horizon and that it was not attractive for nine-hole members.

We are therefore launching an expanded, more attractive, advanced subscription offer.

10 year 18 hole subscription                $15,000
 5 year 18 hole subscription                    $7,500
10 year 9 hole subscription                    $10,400
5 year 9 hole subscription                    $5,200

These advanced subscriptions are inclusive of the clubhouse development fee that is an integral part of the subscription.  They are also inclusive of NZ Golf and District levies and GST. They are also fully transferable to any other person within the time period.  Members who have paid this year’s annual subscription can participate in the offer and be credited with any payment already made.

We believe these offers to be excellent value and urge members who are able, to participate and help us meet the required threshold that will enable our new clubhouse project to proceed in a timely manner.

Please register your interest in this offer at the clubhouse, either in person, or by email – info@omokoroagolf.co.nz by 5pm Friday 27th June.

There will be a limit to the number of advanced subscriptions that we can accommodate, and the cutoff will be set by the date of registering any interest to participate.

Parallel to the advanced subscription opportunity, is the offer of 5 year member loans.  These are restricted by regulations to no more than 20 member loans in any financial year.  We seek large sum loans from members who are in a position to participate, and we are offering an attractive commercial interest rate.

For more information and details relating to member loans, please contact one of the committee members below:

These are exciting times for our club. The clubhouse redevelopment plan is progressing to schedule, and the support of the membership is needed and greatly appreciated.

Voting

Thank you to those members who have embraced the election process and already placed their votes.  The response has been fantastic.  It’s great sign for the future of our club to have more nominees than we have ever had as well as an engaged membership responding by voting.  If you are undecided on who to vote for there are bios for the seven nominees on the Board noticeboard and in the office. Voting closes 12 noon Thursday 26 June.

Support recieved

Thank you also to our wonderful members and staff who have been super supportive and understanding during this period of transition over the last few weeks.

Matariki Event

We have had an incredibly quick uptake of tee times for the Matariki Tournament next Friday 20 June.  At the time of writing there were a two tee times left. Give us a call in the office if you wish to enter, one of our fabulous sponsors may wish to play with you. This tournament is setting the standard high for future public holiday events for members and guests.

Course Status

Remember to check the course status on the website or on the board near the clubhouse entrance.  This week we have had a closed day and day requesting golf carts stay on the cart paths. It has been bought to our attention that these directives haven't been adhered to by some.  The Greenkeepers update the course status each morning for the benefit of your course. Please respect their decision.

In fine, warm weather this week we played Round 4 of our Shootout Competition.  Although it was damp underfoot, it was great to be out there 'doing it'.  Winners this week were Debbie Hardaker; Robyn Lamborn; Amelia Hemphill, Dianne Mahony and Janet Burmeister.

Our interclub team played last Monday at Te Puke against Otumoetai and came in with a win.  Our team is currently coming first equal with Omanu.  Well done ladies - keep up the good work.

It seems the Winter Weather has seriously arrived, but it is not the only thing causing trouble at the moment!

As I am sure we all know the roading situation in and out of Omokoroa is making life difficult with amount of works going on the highway and also along Omokoroa Road. It certainly caused havoc with everyone trying to get to golf on Saturday! Many thanks to Stacey for managing those who were delayed as best she could and getting all the matches completed. Could we please ask maybe we all plan to arrive a little earlier than usual as the road works don’t look like they will improve over the next couple of weeks.

In the handicap matchplay there were some very close contests, with many going to extra holes! The Omokoroa Cup 2nd round matches are all scheduled for Saturday. The Presidents Cup matches are also scheduled, some players have byes due to withdrawals from the event. You can see the draw for each cup on the event calendar if you login to the member portal on the club website.

Also its time to start thinking about who you might want to play with in the Pairs event next month, the format will be slightly different this year, more details to come so will keep you in suspense for at least another week.

This Sunday is the first round of the Bay of Plenty Handicap Pennant season, good luck to our team who are playing at Omanu on Sunday against Kawerau GC

Lets hope the Rain takes a break and we can get some good golf in this weekend. If not at least we can watch everyone getting beaten up by the rough at the US Open, I am picking Colin Morikawa but I missed out on him in the sweepstake. Mark Lowry owes me a beer if he wins.

Thank you to all our Sponsors

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

Winter has certainly arrived with 85m of rain on Tuesday night and the high tide backing up, closed the course on Wednesday.

No. 1 Cart path boxing is making great progress with Colin Gee putting in big hours to prep for concrete.

No. 7 Cart path is now fully planted thanks to Jaquie and Dave Ashton, the mulch should be completed next week weather permitting.

Please remember the 7th and 9th swamp areas is an environmental area. Please keep out of this area as there are endangered birds nesting you must not try to retrieve your ball. There are new signs that have been installed.

Great to see members using the sand buckets to repair divots, this allows the grass to regrow quicker as it is a spreading grass.

Firewood sales are going strong contact Colin Gee for orders.

A big thank you to all our sponsors of the club.

You will have noticed the practice bunker has been reduced in size, and new drainage is being placed. This will make for a much better bunker to practice from thank you to Kevin Donald for your hard work on this project.
