AGM Update

At the close of nominations there were 7 candidates for 4 positions, thus triggering a ballot by members. AGM papers will be sent along with Ballot papers and information on voting next week.

Here is the list of the Nominees and their profiles, this can also be found on the noticeboard in the club house.

Tee Bookings

It has come to our attention that there are several members who are jumping in on the course without booking a tee time or going out when it looks like there could be a "Gap"

The tee sheets are set by the office to allow time for player groups to complete their competition rounds and also allow time for the cross overs to happen.
If you are looking for a game and have not booked a tee time please contact the office to make a tee time or to check if the course has availability. Jumping in on the course causes delays and log jams in the field behind you that you may not be aware of.

It is also important to stick to the starting tee and tee time that you have selected when making your booking.

Course Update
Rob Mitford-Burgess

Work has begun on the 10th Fairway to mitigate ball strike from the tee to the houses bordering the 11th fairway.

Widening to the right of the 10th mown fairway has begun and two small trees have been removed. This will hopefully encourage play to this wider part of the 10th fairway and there will be no internal out of bounds on the 11th fairway as previously indicated.

You will notice an area roped off with pigtails along the 11th . This will eventually become an area of rough with heavier growth and planting of grasses.

9 Hole Ladies
Yvonne Hoskins

This week we played Round 3 of our Stableford competition.  Although there had been a significant amount of rain, the course was looking great.  Our winners this week were Marg Griffiths, Sue Halsey, Robyn Falconer, Debbie Hardaker and Dianne Mahony.  Well done ladies.  Our interclub team is playing Otumoetai at the Te Puke Course on Monday.  Fingers crossed for some more fine weather.

Congratulations to the team of Neil Howard, Murray Bell & Kerry Duggan who won the Kings Birthday Ambrose event last weekend, they managed to pip the team of Gary Marshall, Andy Garrett & Graeme Blissett on countback, an unfortunate bogey on the 17th hole for Gary & Team meant Howie & Co were there worthy winners on the day.

Feedback from the day has been overwhelmingly positive about how much fun everyone had, and how enjoyable to have a slightly different format for Saturday golf. It was great to have 108 players involved and special thanks to Greig Neilson & Stacey Koppens for putting it all together for everyone to enjoy.

This weekend is the first round of the Omokoroa Cup, the handicap matchplay event for the year. First round losers in the Omokoroa Cup go into the Presidents Cup the following week. The draw is available to be seen on the club website if you login under your membership details. Please remember that any shots that you have to give to your opponent are to be given on the hardest stroke holes first!

The Saturday haggle this weekend (and next) is a PAR haggle, a format that we have played a couple of times now. This format works well if players want to play in the haggle as well as play their handicap matchplay. No hidden holes this week.

Lets hope the rain stays away and we can get some enjoyable golf in this weekend

As always, our sponsors are legends so make sure you support them whenever the opportunity arises.

Vets Vibes
Ian Howells

There were no Vets competitions on the 4th June again because of the wet weather. This was apart from 4 players who braved the conditions again on a golf course that was playable because of the tremendous work that has been done by volunteers and green staff over a number of years.

Upcoming Competitions
Wednesday, 11th June: Vets Mid-Winter Christmas tournament. $10 entry fee for a Stableford competition in 2 divisions and including twos. Cafeteria food will be available after the round, funded by Vets. All entries receive a prize from an extensive prize table.

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

Greetings all

A mixed bag this week, the weather gods have not been kind, bit the course has come back quickly. The staff and volunteers have risen to the occasion and presented the course, well done.

Colin and KD have started work on the number one cart path and good progress is being made.

Jaqui and Dave Ashton have set out the grasses on the number 7 path ready for planting. Once the plating is complete, the mulch will be spread.

Firewood sales are still going strong, for orders contact Colin Gee.

Please take a sand Bucket and repair your divots, and don’t forget to repair your pitch marks and any others you locate on the greens.

A big thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers.
