General Managers Message

Kia ora koutou,

These memberships are transferable to anyone you nominate and offer great value at just $16,500 for the full 10 years. Availability is limited, so if you're interested, please email me at manager@omokoroagolf.co.nz to register.

Course Update – April Rainfall & Turf Conditions
Over April, we've received nearly 250mm of rain — more than our total rainfall for the year to date. The combination of wet conditions and lingering warmth has created ideal conditions for fungal growth on the course.

We've noticed some impact on the greens, particularly from dollar spot and puffball fungi. A spraying programme has been implemented. You may notice some bare patches on the greens previously affected by puffballs, but these will recover and fill in naturally. A follow-up spray for dollar spot is scheduled for next week to stop further spread.

We're closely monitoring course conditions and will continue taking proactive steps to maintain playability.

Looking Ahead
The weather is looking more promising for the weekend — fingers crossed for a few dry days so we can welcome everyone back onto the course!

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

Congratulations to Nikki and Tim Stephenson on winning the Rosie Tray Competition on Anzac Day! A large field turned out to compete under beautiful conditions, and it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout for this cherished event.

While the recent wet weather has kept the course closed more often than we'd like, it hasn’t stopped the work behind the scenes. A huge thanks to our volunteers who cleared the old gum tree near the 16th during the storm – no small feat! Sadly, the tree will need to be removed due to safety concerns. Special thanks to Hugh Moleta, Colin Gee, and Swampy for their efforts.

Course Update:
Some greens have been affected by dollar spot fungus, caused by excess moisture and limited drying time. Our greenkeepers have already begun treatment, and we appreciate your patience during this maintenance period.

Volunteer Appreciation:
Our mowing team has been braving the elements to stay ahead of the rapid growth – a sincere thank you to Colin Gee, Jeff Beanland, Rob Mitford-Burgess, Howard North, and Steve Weatherley for your hard work. The course wouldn’t be playable without you.

Firewood Sales:
Still going strong! For orders, please contact Colin Gee  Ph 027 577 1987.

Course Improvements:
A special shout-out to KD for the excellent work on the new 12th tee – a great upgrade to the course.

And of course, a big thank you to Sue and Daryl Muir for organising the Rosie Tray Competition. The Rosie family were original orchardists on the floodplain and were instrumental in establishing our golf course. It’s wonderful to see these historic competitions still being honoured.
