Annan Law Saturday Men's Club Day

Last Saturday we played the 4 Club Challenge as we always do after the greens have been cored. An amazing round of 75 (45 points) was posted by Kevin Donald to win the haggle by 6 shots. It was also the first time K.D. has scored better than his age. He did break his age a couple of years ago when the 5th hole played as a par 3, which wasn't quite legitimate. Well done K.D. You have joined a pretty exclusive Club.

This week we will play the usual haggle, so a good chance to rack up a Shootout Score!

Interclub Pennants

The divisional sections of Pennants were completed on Sunday and our Intermediate and Junior Teams are through to the Baywide Quarter-Finals. Our Championship Squad performed well but missed out on the Semi- finals. Omokoroa Club are hosting the Intermediate and Junior Quarter-finals on the 8th May, so our sides have home advantage.

We continued with our Competition schedule yesterday, Thursday 14th April, in beautiful weather. The air was crystal clear after the thorough rinsing from the previous day’s storm!

We played Shootout Round 2 and Stableford Cup Round 2, there format for both was Net

The Fairways had dried beautifully and the freshly cored Greens had a lot of their sand well washed in. Still a challenge to Putt on but many of you were able to record some very good scores in spite of this.

A big field of 31 players showed up, hopefully this bodes well for the rest of the competition. We’ve lost a few stalwarts in recent months but it’s pleasing to see new players come to join our ranks.

Results for the Net Haggle were:
Division 1:
Frank Baggenstos                           33
Francois Richter-Visser                  34
Bob Duckworth                                 35
Tom Hansen                                      36

Division 2:
Bruce Blair                                        36
Davis Bennett                                   37
Brett Dixon                                        38
Horton Schofield                               38

Raffle prizes went to:  Bruce Baggenstos, Spencer Tankard and Ken Hartley.

Next week, 21st April we play Round 2 of the Stableford Cup and Round 2 of the Putting Trophy.
We are looking for another good turnout. While the weather is still good, make the most of it.

Happy Easter everyone!!

New Bridges
Work has started on replacing the main bridge over to the greenkeepers shed.  It became apparant that the bridge was badly in need of repair, so club legend Swampy sprung into action.  Securing pretty much everything for free, the new bridge became a reality very quickly!  Thanks to Lieth on the digger and kudos to John Leek at Omokoroa Carriers for his generous community support to our golf club.  Awesome work Swampy and team!
Also I'm sure you will have noticed the repair to the pond bridge between 13 and 14.  Swampy single handedly gave it a much needed zip.  Thanks again Swampy!

Pitchmarks
Since the coring has been done the lack of repair by players on their pitchmarks has become very evident.  PLEASE ensure all pitchmarks are repaired.  Its heartbreaking for the greenkeepers who are trying to get our greens as good as possible to see the damage over the past week or so.  Also remember to please give way to greenkeepers as they do their mowing.

New Cups and Poles
These have been ordered and will appear soon.  Thanks to the Friday Haggle for contributing to this.  They also helped out with some sprinkler repairs

Carts
Reminder that if you use a motorised vehicle on the course you need to pay $100 per annum for cart paths.  Those who have paid, please collect a new pass for this year from the office.
We are also looking for volunteers to join the cart cleaning roster.  If you are happy to help out contact the office and we will arrange a new roster.
