Coring Week
What a great week!  We had hordes of willing volunteers help out with all sorts of jobs around the course.  The coring went very smoothly and it was completed in record time, so we were able to open today.
We also laid the new carpet in the office and gave it a lick of paint.  A great fresh start to launch into the winter season.

BOP Junior Development Quad Team
Congratulations to Anya Apanui who has been named in the BOP team to play at the Te Awamutu Golf Club, 25th-27th April.  The districts involved are: BOP, Auckland, North Harbour & Waikato. This event is handicap matchplay.

Millbrook Classic
Well done to our own Kieran Muir, who competed in the Millbrook Classic last week.  It was a game of two halves for Kieran with a great 1st round which included 5 birdies in the last 8 holes.  The 2nd round didn’t quite go to plan however, and he finished mid-pack at 16th overall.

Mural
Massive thanks to Sue Dark who has completed our amazing mural on the toilet block.  A beautiful addition to the course.

COVID
As per the changes to the government guidelines earlier in the week, we are no longer requiring a vaccine pass to play on the course or enter the clubhouse.  We no longer need to scan in on arrival, but we do still need wear masks in the clubhouse & office please.

TRIANGULAR TROPHY
Eighty five players from Whangamata, Waihi and Omokoroa contested for four trophies. Omokoroa golfers won the overall Triangular Trophy and the Whangamata/Omokoroa Interclub Trophy. Well done team.

Unusually, the optional two’s was not won, so the money earned has been divided among the three clubs to be used for future events.

ROSIE TRAY
Entries are now open for this annual tournament. This is a mixed-pairs combined stableford competition. There will be three prizes and the trophy for the winner/s. In conjunction with the Rosie Tray, there will be an individual stableford competition with men’s and ladies divisions with separate prizes.

Entry form is in the office and pre-payment is preferred. If you do not have a partner for the mixed pairs, put your name down anyway and we can find you a partner.

Event:      ROSIE TRAY
Date:        Sunday 1st May
Time:        9.30am multi-tee start
Cost:         $10 including two’s

First we would like to congratulate Sue Thomson on her big win in the Womens’ Autumn Foursomes last week. A late ring in for a last minute pull out Sue and her partner, from the Akarana Golf Club maintained their lead throughout the 3 days to finish first in their daily 36 holes Foursomes. It was a very intense game for most of us but lots of fun. Well done Sue.

On the Saturday before coring we saw Jessie Savage winning Nearest the Pin on the 4th as well as sinking her putt for a 2. Great result Jessie.

2 April Saturday Stableford Results:
1st Jo Jory, 2nd Liz Woods, 3rd Debbie Clark.

The Coring week saw a group of ladies playing their midweek game at Mt Maunganui with mixed results. Well done to Jo Jory for her great ability to putt on the very slick greens, thus winning the haggle.

On Monday we are hosting the Midweek Womens’ Strokeplay Pennants, so if it is a fine day for walking come along and watch the competitive play from the 7 local Golf Clubs. We wish all the best for our team.

Annan Law Saturday Men's Club Day
This Saturday we play with only 4 Clubs in the haggle. Your putter is included in the 4 clubs to be used. I have decided to use a hybrid, 8 iron, sand wedge and a putter. Scores will count as qualifying for the A-one Kitchens and Interiors Shootout Final to be held at the end of the year.

After play there is a $20 voucher for the winner of " The Longest Hole". We will tee off from the 4th tee box and hole out on the 15th green. Darren Lowans holds the record with a score of 9. Good luck to those of you prepared to take it on!

Coring Working Bee
Well done to all who helped with the coring of the greens this week. They may take a week or two before they are up to speed, but it is nice to have them done.

The Masters
My pick to win the first Mens Major of the year is Cameron Smith. (Editors Note: This was written before round 1!)
So good to have Tiger Woods back playing!
