Congratulations to the Saturday Ladies for a successful Tournament held just over the weekend. I suspect someone has been doing some sun dancing to order the fabulous weather for the tournament.

There were 100 ladies on the field including 54 visitors who thoroughly enjoyed a lovely day out.

Winter Roast Dinner

We are planning a Winter Roast Dinner in either late June or early July – the date is still to be finalised with Jarrod. Hopefully there will be some musical entertainment – and of course one or two other surprises! More information to come in this in the near future.

Annan Law Saturday Men’s Club Day

The third and final round of the Reg Carter Trophy is played this Saturday. It is nett scoring so putt out although your stableford score will go through to the A-One kitchens and Interiors Shootout Qualifying table. Dale Courtney has a healthy lead in the Reg Carter event with Steve Davis, Ray Herdman and Darren Tumai all chasing him. Remember that the winner and runner-up go through to the year ending Grand Slam Cup.

PGA Championship

The PGA Major starts on Friday (NZ time). My pick to win it is the young South African, Garrick Higgo.

Strokeplay

Who can remember that it rained just a little bit on Thursday morning?

The competition was the Strokeplay Championship and the format was Gross. A brave team of 25 set out to do battle.

We had a particularly strong showing in Division 1. Not so much in Division 2

Apologies for a bit of confusion about the break point between the two divisions with a couple of players who should have been in Div 1 ending up in Div 2.

Lucky for them those two got a bonus in the Haggle!

We’ll have it properly sorted for Round 2.

The Haggle money went to:

Division 1 (Front 9)

  • Kevin Bowick 44
  • Tom Hansen 45
  • Roy Kerr 45
  • Allan Hoskins 46

Division 2 (Back 9)

  • Arnold Davis 49
  • Horton Schofield 51
  • Frank Baggenstos 52
  • Spencer Tankard 54

Next Thursday we play Round 2 of the Strokeplay Championship.

Unfortunately those who didn’t show for Round 1 go to the bottom of the pile for the Championship.

The winners will be chosen from those who played in both Rounds.

Hopefully the weather will be a bit more conducive to a good turnout so no excuse for not coming out.

We now have your on the go coffee or chocolate fix here in the shop. Try these on if you need a bit of a boost before/during your game. Don’t worry about them getting cold as you play cause they are chilled.

Pitch markers – Did you know that our new pitch markers can be used as magnets on your hat clips. Some cleaver people have already worked that out and replaced lost magnetic markers with Omokoroa branded ones.
