This will be my last newsletter as Club Captain but I will continue to provide updates about the Twilight Tournament. Many thanks for the many people who helped me throughout the year.

A few updates from me this week:

Twilight

We had 84 players this week and a superb dinner provided by Jarrod. (Butter chicken and Chili Corn Carne. See attached photo)

No Twilight next Wednesday as we have the Club AGM.

I will provide an update nearer to 10th November for next Twilight format and meals.

Foreshore Opening and 9 Hole Ambrose

For those who have registered to play 9 Hole Ambrose on 31st October after the Foreshore Opening ceremony, please check in at the Starters office before 9am.

Junior Golf Open Tournament

This tournament is now postponed to March 2022.

Correction (Signage)

I mentioned on my last newsletter about the new signage on the golf course. These are being provided by 1st Signs Ltd. My apologies that I got the company name wrong in the last newsletter and it cost me a beer.

Vets 3 day Tournament

It is with regret we have to inform you, that a decision has been made to cancel the Vets 3 day Tournament, this decision has not been arrived at lightly, a huge amount of work has gone into arranging this, whether we like it or not Covid is very likely to sweep the country.

After a great deal of discussion your Vet's Committee came to its decision, unanimously, after considering the safety of Omokoroa Golf Club members, the safety of Omokoroa Residents, the integrity of the Omokoroa Golf Club and the safety of all entrants in our tournament.

This tournament is hugely supported on the Vet's circuit, but we hope our decision eases the minds of many of you. As well as those from the Waikato / Auckland areas that were unable to attend anyway, in the last couple of days people began withdrawing with their own safety in mind.

We will fill the void with another programme.

Annan Law Saturday Men’s Club Day

We have a huge day this week. There is no early start as we want you to attend the A.G.M. and prize giving. Please print off your cards when you arrive and be seated for the A.G.M. at 10 a.m.

Our annual trophy presentation will follow with our two main sponsors, Phillip Annan and Brett Chatfield giving the prizes. At the conclusion of prize giving, please register for the haggle at the starters office. The Grand Slam Cup is also being contested, so good luck to those involved. There will be a break of about 30 minutes to warm-up or have a cup of coffee before a shotgun start.

After play we will do our best to get the scores processed and get the presentation of the Grand Slam Cup, the vouchers and the hidden holes prize done.

The hidden hole prize will be awarded today after two weeks of being jackpotted. All the winners of golf balls can pick up there prizes after prize giving or next week. The $250 lucky member draw will be done before the Calcutta Auction for the Shootout Final to be held next Saturday.

Our resident Auctioneer, Neil Howard will call the Calcutta and has printed a superb guide of the horses in the Shootout Field. Organise your syndicates and have cash ready to pay for your steeds before we start the auction.

Captain's Trophy

In our last tournament before the A.G.M. Tony Allport showed a clean pair of heels to overtake Wilson Tamaki and claim the silverware. Both players have been in superb form lately and will go in as favourites in the A-One Kitchens and Interiors Shootout Final.

Men’s Working Bees

There are a few tasks coming up that need workers including concreting paths, so please make yourselves available when the call goes out.

Pink Ribbon Day

This week we turned out in our pink ensembles and raised just on $500 for Breast Cancer Awareness. Thanks for your generosity, ladies.

9H Men
Spencer Tankard

A depleted field of 20 of our team showed up for the 9 Hole Mens and Ladies Tournament so very well organised for us by the Ladies.

The rain stayed away in spite of a very threatening forecast and those of us who showed up were able to enjoy a most pleasant round of golf.

The Ladies put together an impressive array of prizes both in cash and kind to be appreciated by the worthy winners.

For the 9 Hole Men

Top scorers on the day were:

Division 1:

Kevin Bowick 19

Lynton Holmes 19

Tony Welch 18

Steve Crossfield 18

Allan Hoskins 18

Division 2: ( Note that the ladies set up the split for the divisions at a slightly different handicap point)

Frank Baggenstos 21

Max Richie 21

Horton Schofield 20

Bruce Baggenstos 19

Bruce Blair 19

A rather spectacular array of Raffle prizes were on show but unfortunately the men rather missed out.

The only Raffle winner from amongst our team was

Allan Winter (with what looked like a very nice box of goodies!!)

A special Thank You and to Lyn Harrison and Jacqui Kerr and their team for doing all the hard work to make for such an enjoyable day!

Well how lucky were we!! Woke this a.m. to heavy rain, course closed, no carts.

Thank you to everyone who made our inhouse tournament such a success. It was heart-warming to see a full clubhouse, with lots of friendly chatter, great food, and cheerful comradery with our fellow 9-hole men.

Congratulations to all prize winners, special mention to Colleen Blair the overall winner of the day taking out the Jeanette Williamson Trophy for top stableford score.

Those of you who didn’t score so well had lots of opportunity to win off the laden raffle table.

Thanks to the committee and each and every one of you for your contributions to the day.
