Golfing in Your Bubble at Covid Level 3
There has been some confusion for Golf Clubs as to the “bubble” definition operation at Covid Level 3.
After discussion with the BOP Regional Golf Director yesterday, NZ Golf and BOP Golf have clarified that the golf bubble must be the “family bubble”
What does this mean?
If as a couple or family you have more than one golfer in your household you may play golf together.
If you live alone, you must play golf alone, even if you have chosen to extend your bubble to include another person who is a golfer and lives alone.
If you have kept your bubble small and as a couple have joined with either a person living alone or another couple for support and there are golfers in both households, you may not play golf with the other person from that household.
There have been a number of Clubs like us who have in particular tried to accomodate those golfers living alone, however we must now revert to operating under the “family bubble” rule immediately.
As we all agree Golf at Level 3 is a contactless sport, but we were informed of a Club in the Waikato that was visited yesterday by the police and some members were fined as they were playing in a non “family” bubble.
We do not want to risk that for any of our members.
We know a number of you will be very disappointed and we feel for you.
With all current bookings, where the booking does not meet the "family bubble’ criteria, one player will be removed from the booking. If you want to change that to the other player, please change the booking accordingly.
